Louise Quinn
Louise Quinn (born 17 June 1990) is an Irish professional footballer who plays as a centre back for the Women's Championship club Birmingham City and the Ireland national soccer team. At club level Quinn began her senior career with Peamount United, captaining the club to the inaugural 2011–12 Women's National League title and featuring in the UEFA Women's Champions League. She spent four seasons in Sweden with Eskilstuna United from 2013 to 2016, then moved to England with Notts County who folded shortly afterwards. After joining Arsenal on an initial short-term contract in May 2017, she extended her terms and helped the North London club recapture the FA WSL title in 2018–19. Following her departure from Arsenal in 2020, Quinn spent 2020–21 with the Italian Serie A club Fiorentina Women, before joining Birmingham City in July 2021. Blessington, historically known as Ballycomeen (, from the Irish surname ''Ó Coimín''), is a town on the River Liffey in County Wicklow, Ireland, near the border with County Kildare. It is around 25 km south-west of Dublin, and is situated on the N81 road, which connects Dublin to Tullow. FA WSL
The Women's Super League (WSL), currently known as the Barclays Women's Super League (BWSL) for sponsorship reasons, is the highest league of women's football in England. Established in 2010, it is run by the Football Association and features twelve fully professional teams. The league replaced the FA Women's Premier League National Division as the highest level of women's football in England, with eight teams competing in the inaugural 2011 season. In the WSL's first two seasons, there was no relegation from the division. The WSL discarded the winter football season for six years, between 2011 and 2016, playing through the summer instead (from March until October). Jenny Murphy
Jenny Murphy (born May 30, 1989) is a female rugby union player for . She was a member of the Ireland's 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup squad. She also played at the 2013 Rugby World Cup Sevens in Moscow, Russia. As a child Murphy played Gaelic football and soccer. She played with Ballymore Eustace GAA during her crucial player development years but in 2001 signed a controversial transfer to Kilcullen GAA. Despite this she is still regarded as a local treasure of Ballymore and notably in their top five best athletes. At the start of the 2018/19 season, Murphy started coaching the inaugural Naas RFC Women's team alongside Leinster and Ireland U20's player Adam Coyle. Kilcullen GAA
Kilcullen is an Intermediate Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club in Kilcullen, County Kildare, Ireland, which played a leading role in developing the games in the county. History Kilcullen town sports predate the GAA. The club was founded in 1889, and at first wore green and gold. They changed to black and white to honour the New Zealand national rugby union team ("All Blacks"), who played in Dublin in 1905. Their nickname, "The Rags", comes from a friendly game against Isles of the Sea where the Dubliners insulted the Kilcullen team's shabby kit. Blessington Gaelic Athletic Association is a Gaelic football, hurling, camogie and ladies' Gaelic football club based in Blessington, County Wicklow, Ireland. History The club was founded in 1909, initially playing its games in the Burgage near to the cemetery. The club crest depicts St. Mark's Cross, a high cross was moved to Burgage cemetery when its original home was flooded by the creation of Poulaphouca Reservoir. Blessington GAA won their first Wicklow Senior Football Championship in 1915. Wicklow GAA
The Wicklow County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, Coiste Chontae Cill Mhantáin) or Wicklow GAA is one of the 32 county boards of the GAA in Ireland, and is responsible for Gaelic games in County Wicklow. The county board is also responsible for the Wicklow county teams. The county football team plays in the Leinster Senior Football Championship. Wicklow has had very little success at senior level, being the only football team in the province and one of two in Ireland to have never won a senior title in either code, the other being Fermanagh. Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In sport, a cap is a player's appearance in a game at international level. The term dates from the practice in the United Kingdom of awarding a cap to every player in an international match of rugby football and association football. In the early days of football, the concept of each team wearing a set of matching shirts had not been universally adopted, so each side would distinguish itself from the other by wearing a specific sort of cap. An early illustration of the first international football match between Scotland and England in 1872 shows the Scottish players wearing cowls, and the English wearing a variety of school caps.
