Louise Nicholas
Louise Nicholas is a New Zealand campaigner for the rights of women who have been victims of sexual violence. She has made rape allegations against at least nine men, including at least seven police officers. Although none of these allegations have been proven in court, they have resulted in several high-profile trials and an investigation into a possible police cover-up. Original accusations In 1993, Nicholas gave details regarding her claim of rape to Detective Inspector John Dewar who was in charge of the Criminal Investigation Branch, CIB at Rotorua. Nicholas stated that in 1984 the crime took place in a Apartment, flat she rented in Rotorua, and she pressed charges against a single officer (who has never been publicly identified). During the investigation, Nicholas named three further men as co-assailants, Assistant Police Commissioner Clint Rickards and former policemen Brad Shipton and Bob Schollum. Three trials resulted. The New Zealand Police ( mi, Ngā Pirihimana o Aotearoa) is the national police service and principal law enforcement agency of New Zealand, responsible for preventing crime, enhancing public safety, bringing offenders to justice, and maintaining public order. Anzac Of The Year Award
The Anzac of the Year Award is awarded each year by the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services' Association (RSA) to New Zealanders who demonstrate the spirit of the Anzac soldiers; people who serve others in a "positive, selfless and compassionate manner" and who demonstrate the qualities of comradeship, compassion, courage and commitment. The Award was established in 2010, and in 2014 received the patronage of the Governor-General of New Zealand. Royal New Zealand Police College
The Royal New Zealand Police College (RNZPC) is the central training institution for police recruits and police officers in New Zealand. It is located at Papakowhai, approximately 2 km north of Porirua City. Recruits at the college undergo a rigorous 16 week training course. There are around six intakes (called "wings") of recruits admitted each year. Wings consist of 40, 60 or 80 recruits. Trainees are taught a variety of skills relating to police vehicle use, firearms use, forensic techniques, negotiation and cultural awareness. Successful graduates become probationary constables for a period of two years. As well as ongoing officer training, the RNZPC hosts other non-police related courses, conferences and events.
