Louise Moriarty
Louise Moriarty (born 22 December 1978) is an Irish racing cyclist from Dublin. She was the Irish National Time Trial Champion in 2006 and 2007. In 2008, Moriarty broke the national pursuit record at Newport Velodrome, Wales, setting a new time of 3:55.853, beating the old record of 3:59.194 by over three seconds. The new record took her within two seconds of qualifying for the world championships. She also became the Irish 500m TT, points race, scratch race and pursuit champion. The Irish ( ga, Muintir na hÉireann or ''Na hÉireannaigh'') are an ethnic group and nation native to the island of Ireland, who share a common history and culture. Newport Velodrome
The Geraint Thomas National Velodrome, previously known as the Wales National Velodrome, in Newport, South Wales, is an indoor arena located in the Newport International Sports Village, Lliswerry. The Velodrome's facilities including a covered 250-metre Siberian pine track, a function room/dance studio, free weights room, fitness suite, a drug-testing room and a multipurpose indoor sports arena. It has seating for 500 spectators. The Newport Velodrome hosts the Head Office of Welsh Cycling and Newport Velo Youth Cycling Club is based at the centre. An outdoor cycle speedway track home of Newport Cycle Speedway Club is located at the Velodrome. Irish National Cycling Championships
The Irish National Cycling Championships are annual cycling races to decide the Irish cycling champion for several disciplines, across several categories of rider. The men's road championship is usually held on a Sunday at end of June; the women's race is held the previous day. The winning élite rider wears the national champion's jersey for all road races in the following 12 months. The men's under-23 champion is awarded to the first under-23 in the élite race. The junior road races are held on the same day as the élite and the time-trial championship is earlier in the week. The national criteriums are later in the summer.
