Louise Drew
Louise Drew (1882 – April 23, 1954, New York City) was an American stage actress. Life and career Born into a prominent stage family, Drew was part of the Barrymore family tree of actors. She was educated in both France and the United States. Her mother was stage actress Josephine Baker and her father was the Shakespearean actor John Drew, Jr. (1853–1927), known as "The First Gentleman of the American Stage." She made her Broadway debut in 1901 appearing with her father in ''The Tyranny of Tears''. She shared the stage with her first cousin Academy Award winner Ethel Barrymore in the Broadway production of ''Her Sister'' and the revivals ''Trelawny of the 'Wells''' (in 1911) and ''Alice Sit-by-the-Fire''. Mount Vernon Cemetery (Philadelphia)
Mount Vernon Cemetery is a historic rural cemetery located at 3499 West Lehigh Avenue in the East Falls, Philadelphia, East Falls neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was established in 1856, is 27 acres in size and contains over 18,000 graves. It was neglected for decades by an absentee landlord. No plots have been sold since 1968, it was not open to the public, many graves fell into disrepair and the cemetery became heavily overgrown. In 2021, a Philadelphia judge ordered the cemetery be placed in conservatorship due to neglect. ''The Gay Lord Quex'' is an 1899 comedy play by the British playwright Arthur Wing Pinero. It depicts the vicissitudes of a reformed philanderer attempting to embark on monogamy. The original production provoked controversy, some critics finding the plot at best questionable and at worst immoral. The play premiered at the Globe Theatre, London, on 8 April 1899, and ran for 300 performances. It was produced by John Hare, who also played the title role. Others in the cast included Charles Cherry, Frank Gillmore, May Fortescue, Irene Vanbrugh and Mabel Terry-Lewis. The play was revived in the West End in five productions during the 20th century and has been adapted for the cinema, radio and television. Robert Edeson (June 3, 1868 – March 24, 1931) was an American film and stage actor of the silent era and a vaudeville performer. Life and career Edeson was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of manager and actor George R. Edeson. After working as treasurer of the Park Theatre in Brooklyn, he initially acted in New York in 1887 in a production of ''Fascination.'' He debuted on Broadway in ''Marriage'' (1896). His last Broadway appearance was in ''The World We Live In'' (1922). He also performed in vaudeville. Edeson received his first boost in films in 1914 when he starred in the Cecil B. DeMille directed film, '' The Call of the North'' (1914). Edeson replaced actor Rudolph Christians in Erich von Stroheim's production of ''Foolish Wives'' (1922), after Christians died of pneumonia. Described as "A Farcical Fact in Three Acts", the play depicts the idle son of a rich manufacturer setting up a spurious business in competition with his father. It was first presented on the Broadway theatre, Broadway stage on 8 September 1914, at the George M. Cohan's Theatre, Cohan TheatreMegrue and Hackett (1917), p. 3 and ran for nearly a year. The playwrights substantially rewrote the play for a new production in London by the actor-manager Tom Walls, at the Aldwych Theatre. This opened on 2 February 1924 and closed on 10 July 1925, a total of 598 performances. It was the first of a sequence of twelve "Aldwych farces" presented at the theatre until 1933, mostly original farces written by Ben Travers.
