Louis W. Emerson
Louis Woodard Emerson (July 25, 1857 – June 10, 1924) was a United States House of Representatives, U.S. Representative from New York (state), New York. Life Born in Warrensburg, New York, Emerson attended the district schools, and was graduated from Warrensburg Academy. He engaged in the lumber, banking, and manufacturing business. He was a delegate to the 1888 Republican National Convention, 1888, 1892 Republican National Convention, 1892 and 1896 Republican National Conventions. He was a member of the New York State Senate (19th D.) from 1890 to 1893, sitting in the 113th New York State Legislature, 113th, 114th New York State Legislature, 114th, 115th New York State Legislature, 115th and 116th New York State Legislatures. The 56th United States Congress was a meeting of the legislative branch of the United States federal government, composed of the United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives. It met in Washington, D.C. from March 4, 1899, to March 4, 1901, during the third and fourth years of William McKinley's presidency. The apportionment of seats in this House of Representatives was based on the Eleventh Census of the United States in 1890. Both chambers had a Republican majority. Hence, Amasa was a nephew of David, and cousin of Joab, David's military commander, as well as a cousin of Absalom, David's son. David calls him "my bone and my flesh" (). Amasa's father was Jether (, ) who was also called Ithra (). When Absalom rebelled against David and won over the tribes of Israel (), he appointed Amasa as commander over the army, in effect replacing Joab, who had served as commander for David.
