Louis Freichel
Louis Freichel (December 21, 1921 – November 22, 1997) was a German jazz pianist and guitarist. Freichel was born in Frankfurt and received formal training in music there from 1938 to 1941. From 1943 to 1945 he played with the Hotclub Combo (:de:Hotclub Combo, de), then after the end of World War II worked with Benny De Weille (1945-1948). Starting in 1949 he played with Willy Berking's radio band, working with him through 1956, and also recorded with Two Beat Stompers and with Dusko Goykovich and Albert Mangelsdorff in the 1950s. From 1956 to 1983 he played piano, composed, and arranged for Hessischer Rundfunk's broadcast jazz band. In 1976–1980 he also worked with Heinz Schönberger's (:de:Heinz Schönberger (Musiker), de) Main Stream Power Band . Jazz
Jazz is a music genre that originated in the African-American communities of New Orleans, Louisiana in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with its roots in blues and ragtime. Since the 1920s Jazz Age, it has been recognized as a major form of musical expression in traditional and popular music. Jazz is characterized by swing and blue notes, complex chords, call and response vocals, polyrhythms and improvisation. Jazz has roots in European harmony and African rhythmic rituals. As jazz spread around the world, it drew on national, regional, and local musical cultures, which gave rise to different styles. New Orleans jazz began in the early 1910s, combining earlier brass band marches, French quadrilles, biguine, ragtime and blues with collective polyphonic improvisation. Anita Lindblom
Anita Lindblom (14 December 1937 – 6 September 2020) was a Swedish actress and singer. She appeared in thirteen films between 1957 and 1974. Lindblom also recorded music. Her single ''Sånt är livet'' (a cover of Roy Hamilton's ''You Can Have Her'') was a Norwegian #1 in 1962. Lindblom died on 6 September 2020 in France, where she had been living since 1969. Barry Kernfeld
Barry Dean Kernfeld (born August 11, 1950) is an American musicologist and jazz saxophonist who has researched and published extensively about the history of jazz and the biographies of its musicians. Education In 1968, Kernfeld enrolled at University of California, Berkeley; then, from April 1970 to September 1972, he focused on being a professional saxophonist. In October 1972, Kernfeld enrolled at the University of California, Davis, where, in 1975, he earned a Bachelor of Arts in musicology. From 1975 to 1981, he studied at Cornell University where he focused on jazz. Cornell awarded him a master's degree in 1978 and a Doctor of Philosophy degree 1981. Editing and writing career Kernfeld was the editor of the first and second editions of ''The New Grove Dictionary of Jazz,'' the largest jazz dictionary ever published. Vico Torriani
Vico Torriani (September 21, 1920 in Geneva as Ludovico Oxens Torriani – February 25, 1998 in Agno, Ticino) was a Swiss actor and '' Schlager'' singer. Life Born in Geneva to a family of Lombard origin, Torriani grew up in St. Moritz where he trained as a cook and pastry chef, already making appearances as a singer. He later opened a restaurant in Basel and wrote cookbooks. Having won a talent competition in 1945, he toured several West European countries and in 1949 entered the Swiss charts, followed by his breakthrough in West Germany in 1951. The next year he made his debut on Swiss television, later also on the German ARD broadcaster, where he hosted several TV shows with numerous guest stars. In the 1950s and 1960s he also acted as an actor of musical films, operettas and musical theatre. He competed to represent Germany in the Eurovision Song Contest 1958 but lost to Margot Hielscher.
