Lou Wills Hildreth
Lou Wills Hildreth (July 13, 1928 – February 28, 2019) was an American Southern gospel performer, songwriter, talent agent and television host. She was the first woman to have owned a talent agency in the Southern gospel industry as the president of the Nashville Talent Agency. She was inducted into the Gospel Music Hall of Fame and the Southern Gospel Museum and Hall of Fame. Early life Hildreth was born on July 13, 1928, in Memphis, Texas. Her family, the Wills, were Southern gospel performers. Career Hildreth began her career as a Southern gospel performer with her family, the Singing Wills Family. In the 1960s, she hosted ''Wills Family Inspirational Time''. Over the course of her career, she has also hosted ''Hill Country Gospel TV'' and ''Inside Gospel'', ''Family Lifestyles'' and ''Nashville Gospel''. Hildreth was a songwriter. Memphis is a city and the county seat of Hall County, Texas, Hall County, Texas, United States. As of the 2010 United States Census, 2010 census, the population was 2,290. History Memphis, Texas, the county seat of Hall County, is at the junction of U.S. Highway 287, State Highway 256, and Farm Road 1547, in the northeastern part of the county. National Quartet Convention
The National Quartet Convention (NQC) is an annual gathering of Southern Gospel quartets and musicians. It is held at the Leconte Center in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, United States. History The first National Quartet Convention was held in 1957. J. D. Sumner, Cecil Blackwood and James Blackwood of The Blackwood Brothers were the founders of the famous National Quartet Convention formerly held in Memphis, Tennessee. The National Quartet Convention featured all the major gospel groups at a three-day event at the Ellis Auditorium in Memphis. After the first couple of years, the NQC was moved to Birmingham, Alabama in 1959 and Atlanta, Georgia in 1960. It returned to Memphis in 1961 and was drawing annual crowds of 20,000 by the mid-1960s. The Gospel Music Association (GMA) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1964 for the purpose of supporting and promoting the development of all forms of gospel music. Mount Pleasant is the county seat of and largest city in Titus County, in the U.S. state of Texas. As of the 2020 census, Mount Pleasant's population was 16,047; it is situated in Northeast Texas.
