Los Carayos
Los Carayos was a French band which released four albums between 1986 and 1994. They were active mostly in Paris in the mid-1980s, but side interests of the musicians, notably of Manu Chao, did not allow the band to take off. Their songs were largely of a parodic style, mixing rockabilly, punk, blues, and various genres of folk from throughout the world, especially country, and hispanic music. They were also influenced by Italian composer Ennio Morricone, who is famous for his work in movie soundtracks. Name ''Carallo'' (Galician spelling) or ''caralho'' (Portuguese one, both pronounced the same) are slang words with several meanings including "penis". Hispanic Music
The term ''Hispanic'' ( es, hispano) refers to people, cultures, or countries related to Spain, the Spanish language, or Hispanidad. Les Wampas
Les Wampas () are a French punk rock/psychobilly band, who refer more exactly to their music as " Yé-yé-punk". The band was formed in Paris in 1983. Mano Negra (band)
Mano Negra (complete Spanish name: ''La Mano Negra'', sometimes abbreviated to ''La Mano'' in France) was a French music group active from 1987 to 1994 and fronted by Manu Chao. The group was founded in Paris by Chao, his brother Antoine and their cousin Santiago, all born of Galician and Basque parents with partly Cuban roots. Their songs were mostly in Spanish, English and French, often switching from one language to the other in the same song or in the middle of a sentence or title (e.g. "Puta's Fever"). They also had a hit song in Arabic. They are considered pioneers of world fusion. Hot Pants (French Band)
Hot Pants is one of the numerous groups involving the French singer-songwriter of Spanish descent Manu Chao and his cousin, drummer Santi. As with all of Chao's music, the group had many influences, most notably The Clash, which contributed to their rockabilly sound. The group sang in English and Spanish. The group released a demo tape in 1984 entitled "Mala Vida," and in 1985 they released a 45 with the single "So many nites" (and B-side "Lover Alone"). They released a full-length album entitled ''Loco Mosquito'' in 1986, which was re-released in 2000. François Hadji-Lazaro (22 June 1956 – 25 February 2023) was a French actor, musician and producer. Hadji-Lazaro founded the French independent label Boucherie Productions (1985–2001) and played in many bands such as Les Garçons Bouchers (1986–1995) and Pigalle (1986–2018). A rock band or pop band is a small musical ensemble that performs rock music, pop music, or a related genre. A four-piece band is the most common configuration in rock and pop music. Blues
Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Blues incorporated spirituals, work songs, field hollers, shouts, chants, and rhymed simple narrative ballads from the African-American culture.
