The Los Angeles Rugby Club founded in 1958, is a premier First Division amateur rugby team that competes in the Southern California Rugby Football Union (SCRFU) that reports to USA Rugby—the national governing body for the United States Rugby Union. Richard Frank Hyland (July 26, 1900 – July 16, 1981) was an American rugby union player who competed in the 1924 Summer Olympics. Old Mission Beach Athletic Club Rugby Football Club is a rugby union team based in San Diego, California. OMBAC RFC is directly affiliated with the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club. The rugby team plays at The Little Q Rugby Field, adjacent to Qualcomm Stadium (hence the name). History The Old Mission Beach rugby club was established in 1966 under the wing of Old Mission Beach Athletic Club (OMBAC) which was founded in 1954. History The Belmont Shore team was founded in 1974, and was one of the original US Rugby Super League teams in 1997. Douglas Leslie Rollerson (14 May 1953 – 3 May 2017) was a New Zealand rugby union and rugby league player, and rugby union executive. Rugby union Primarily a fullback and first five-eighth, Rollerson represented Manawatu at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, in 1976, 1980 and 1981. He played 24 matches for the All Blacks including eight full internationals. Rollerson played for Manawatu in their 16–22 loss to the Irish team of 1976. Al Caravelli (born 1959 or 1960 in Queens, New York) is head coach of the Philippines national rugby sevens team. He was head coach of the United States national rugby sevens team from 2006 until 2012. Caravelli inherited a team that was on a 30 game losing streak. The US national sevens team improved steadily on the IRB Sevens World Series circuit under Caravelli's leadership, improving from 15th during the 2006-07 season to 10th during the 2010-11 season. Caravelli managed to transform the US team into a legitimate IRB Sevens World Series contender in his first few years.
