LA Laguna FC was an American soccer team based in the Los Angeles area, United States. Founded in 2010, the team played in the Premier Development League (PDL) (now USL League Two), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid, in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference. The team will play some of its home matches at Santa Ana Stadium and others at Citrus College and Pomona College starting in May, 2016. Santa Ana Stadium
Santa Ana Stadium, also known as Eddie West Field or the Santa Ana Bowl, is a city-owned and operated 9,000-capacity American football and soccer stadium located in downtown Santa Ana. The field was named after Eddie West, a writer for the Orange County Register and tireless supporter of the Santa Ana College Dons and all Orange County sports. The city's stadium holds many events in addition to its high school and college football main draws, including children's and adult soccer games through local leagues, high school and college commencement ceremonies and more. The City of Santa Ana scheduled retrofitting of the stadium to begin on January 4, 2016 and end on April 30, 2016 but work was not completed until August 2016. Azusa Pacific University (APU) is a private, evangelical Christian university in Azusa, California. The university was founded in 1899, with classes opening on March 3, 1900, in Whittier, California, and began offering degrees in 1939. Alex Bengard
Alex Bengard (born March 13, 1979) is a retired American soccer player. Career College Bengard played one year of college soccer at Mt. San Antonio College before transferring to California State University, Dominguez Hills. During his senior year Bengard broke the CSUDH single-season points record and earned the CCAA First Team All-Conference award, was named a First Team All-American, and won the Division 2 NCAA National Championship. Professional Bengard was drafted in the fifth round (57th overall) in the 2001 MLS SuperDraft by Los Angeles Galaxy. He played in 7 MLS games for Galaxy in his two years with the team, winning the 2001 U.S. Open Cup and the 2002 MLS Cup, before being waived at the end of the 2002 season. Ross Schunk (born April 28, 1986 in Portland, Oregon) is an American soccer player who last played for Colorado Rapids in Major League Soccer. Career College and Amateur Schunk attended Woodrow Wilson High School, where he acquired his skills under the training of Don Juan Mercado. At a young age, Ross was known for his outstanding crossbar and soccer-tennis skills. Although widely speculated, it's known by many living in southwest Portland, Schunk developed his skills from the founding members of Gabe Academy (Don Juan Mercado and Shiloh were two of the founding fathers, among others). Lance Friesz (born September 16, 1983, in Mission Viejo, California) is a former soccer player. Early life and soccer career Friesz grew up in Laguna Niguel, California with his parents and younger sister, attended Dana Hills High School, and played college soccer at the University of San Diego. During his college years he played in the USL Premier Development League for both Boulder Rapids Reserve and Los Angeles Storm. Friesz was drafted to play for Los Angeles Galaxy, where he was second reserve goalkeeper behind Joe Cannon and Steve Cronin, but he never saw any first team playing time and was waived at the end of 2007.
