Loreto Beaufort
Loreto High School Beaufort is a voluntary fee-paying Roman Catholic secondary school for girls located on the grounds of Beaufort House on Grange Road in Rathfarnham, South Dublin. It is across the street from Loreto Abbey. History Mother Frances Deasey bought Beaufort House in 1925. It became Beaufort Domestic Science College, with the ancillary buildings forming a kindergarten and junior school. A senior school building was added in 1952, and an extension including an assembly hall in 1975. The kindergarten and junior school were phased out in the 1990s. South Dublin County Council greenlit a two-storey extension in 2017. Sports Loreto High School Beaufort offers a variety of sports including Hockey, Basketball and Camogie, with successful Leinster wins throughout the years. Rathfarnham
Rathfarnham () is a Southside suburb of Dublin, Ireland. It is south of Terenure, east of Templeogue, and is in the postal districts of Dublin 14 and 16. It is within the administrative areas of both Dún Laoghaire–Rathdown County Council and South Dublin County Council. Located within the historical baronies of Rathdown and Uppercross, Rathfarnham village originally developed around a fortification overlooking a ford on the River Dodder. From the medieval period, Rathfarnham was on the perimeter of the Pale (the area of Anglo-Norman influence in Ireland, centred on Dublin), and a number of defensive structures were built in the area. Hannah Matthews
Hannah Matthews (born 24 March 1991) is an Ireland women's field hockey international. She was a member of the Ireland team that played in the 2018 Women's Hockey World Cup final. Matthews has also won Irish Senior Cup and Women's Irish Hockey League titles with Loreto. She is the daughter of Phillip Matthews, the former Ireland rugby union international. Rosemary Smith
Rosemary Smith (born 7 August 1937) is a rally driver from Dublin, Ireland. She initially trained as a dress designer. Biography Smith entered her first rally as a co-driver. After deciding that navigating was not to her liking, she switched to driving. She came to the attention of the Rootes Group's Competition Department, which offered her a works drive. In 1964, she took the ladies' prize on the Circuit of Ireland Rally driving a Sunbeam Rapier. The following year she won the Tulip Rally outright in a Hillman Imp. Smith was controversially disqualified from the 1966 Monte Carlo Rally after winning the ''Coupe des Dames'', the ladies' class. Ten cars in total were disqualified. Janet Mullarney
Janet Mullarney (15 March 1952 – 3 April 2020) was an Irish artist and sculptor. Life and education Mullarney was born in Dublin in 1952 and grew up in Rathfarnham. She spent most of her life living in Ireland and Italy, where her final home was, back in Florence. She was one of eleven children. Her mother was Máire Mullarney, a founding member of the Green Party (Ireland), Green Party in Ireland. At first she was educated at home, then at the Loreto Beaufort in Rathfarnham until she was expelled. Mullarney was then sent to Prison. Initially Mullarney began to study psychiatric nursing. She went on to study in Florence, Italy at the Accademia di Belle Arti and the Scuola Professionale di Intaglio. She died on 3 April 2020 after a long illness.
