Loraine Lambert
Loraine Lambert (born 18 August 1972) is a retired Australian professional golfer who played on the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour. She won the Air France Madame Open in 1997. Career Lambert was a top amateur in Queensland, competing alongside Karrie Webb and Rachel Hetherington. She won successive New Zealand Ladies Amateur titles in 1991 and 1992. When attempting to win for the third successive year, she was beaten in the final by home player Lynn Brooky. She represented Australia at the 1992 Espirito Santo Trophy together with Ericka Jayatilaka and Joanne Mills, finishing 7th. Professional career Lambert turned professional in 1994 and joined the LET mid-way through the season. Her first event was the Evian Masters, where she finished T10. Quaama
Quaama is a village in the Bega Valley Shire, in the South Coast region of New South Wales, Australia. The village is located along the Princes Highway between Cobargo and Brogo, 30 km north of the town of Bega. It had a resident population of 281 at the 2016 Census. The village was formerly known as Dry River (a name linked to the nearby Dry River) until the early 1900s, and was later known as "Quaamaa"; the present spelling was assigned in 1999. Alison Nicholas, (born 6 March 1962) is an English professional golfer. Amateur career Nicholas was born in Gibraltar. She was educated at the School of St Mary and St Anne (now Abbots Bromley School for Girls). She enjoyed a very successful amateur career in England. She started playing golf at the age of 17 and won the 1982 and 1983 Northern Girls Amateur Open. Nicholas was the 1983 British Amateur Stroke Play champion. In 1983, Nicholas won the Yorkshire Ladies County Championship. Professional career Nicholas turned professional in 1984 and joined the Ladies European Tour in the same year. Tasman Cup
The Tasman Cup was an amateur women's team golf tournament, played between Australia and New Zealand from 1933 to 2016. From 2007 to 2012 it was played as part of the Trans Tasman Cup. In 2016 the trophy was contested using scores from the two qualifying rounds of the Australian Women's Amateur. History The first contest was held at Victoria Golf Club in Melbourne in 1933. It was played on 1 September, after the qualifying rounds of the Australian Women's Amateur but before the start of the match-play stage. Four singles were played in the morning and two foursomes in the afternoon. Espirito Santo Trophy
The Espirito Santo Trophy (World Women's Amateur Team Championships) is a biennial world amateur team golf championship for women organised by the International Golf Federation. The inaugural event was held in 1964. It was instituted by the French Golf Federation in an agreement with the United States Golf Association. It was planned by Lally Segard, at the time known as Vicomtesse de Saint Sauveur, from France and Mrs. Henri Prunaret from America. Segard also asked her friends Ricardo and Silvia Espirito Santo, from Portugal, to donate a trophy for the event, which they did. They had originally bought the golden cup, which had belonged to Tsar Nicholas II of Russia, for an international Portuguese event that was not played anymore. Australian Girls' Amateur
The Australian Girls' Amateur is the national junior golf championship of Australia for girls. It was first played in 1953. It is run by Golf Australia. History From 1953 to 1983 the event was for "juniors" (under-21) and was played in conjunction with the stroke-play qualifying stage of the Australian Women's Amateur. From 1953 to 1973 and from 1978 to 1983 qualification was over 36-holes but from 1974 to 1977 it was over 72 holes. However in 1974 the junior event was still decided by the scores over the first 36 holes, while in 1975 and 1976 the junior event was decided over the first 54 holes. Giant Eagle LPGA Classic
The Giant Eagle LPGA Classic was an official golf tournament on the LPGA Tour held in the Youngstown, Ohio area. From its beginnings in 1990 until 1992, it was known as The Phar-Mor in Youngstown and was held at Squaw Creek Country Club in Vienna Township, Ohio. It became the Youngstown-Warren LPGA Classic in 1993 and was held at Avalon Lakes Golf Club in Warren, Ohio until 2000. In 1997, Pittsburgh-based grocery store chain Giant Eagle took over the title sponsorship of the tournament. The tournament returned to Squaw Creek in 2001. The last tournament was held in 2004. LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament
In professional golf, the term qualifying school is used for the annual qualifying tournaments for leading golf tours such as the U.S.-based PGA and LPGA Tours and the European Tour. A fixed number of players in the event win membership of the tour for the following season, otherwise known as a "tour card", meaning that they can play in most of the tour's events without having to qualify. They join the leaders on the previous year's money list/order of merit and certain other exempt players as members of the tour. Getting through the qualifying school of an elite tour is very competitive and most professional golfers never achieve it. There can be up to four stages to negotiate, each of them like a regular golf tournament with only a small number of players going on to the next stage.
