Whitly Loper
Collyn "Whitly" Loper (born December 31, 1986, in Jackson, Mississippi) is an American sport shooter. She won a gold medal in trap shooting at the 2003 Pan American Games in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, and eventually finished fourth at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, narrowly missing out an opportunity to claim an Olympic medal. Since the age of fourteen, Loper has been serving throughout her sporting career for the U.S. national team, and trains rigorously under her longtime coach Lloyd Woodhouse. Naturally right-handed, Loper was born blind in her right eye that urged her to shoot left. Having pursued the sport since the age of twelve, Loper started out as a successful junior with her third-place finish in the women's trap on her first major international competition at the 2001 World Championships in Cairo, Egypt. Don Loper (April 29, 1906 – November 21, 1972) was an American costume and necktie designer, as well as a screenwriter, choreographer, associate producer, actor, and assistant to MGM musicals producer Arthur Freed. He began his career as a dancer and was teamed with Ginger Rogers in the film ''Lady in the Dark (film), Lady in the Dark'' (1944). Loper is also known for introducing Judy Garland to her future husband, director Vincente Minnelli (''Meet Me in St. Louis''). James Loper
James Leaders Loper (September 4, 1931 – July 8, 2013) was an American television executive who co-founded KCET in 1964 and served as Executive Director of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences from 1983 to 1999. Life and career Loper was born to John Loper and Ellen Leaders in Phoenix, Arizona, on September 4, 1931. He obtained a bachelor's degree in journalism from Arizona State University in 1953, where he was a member of Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity. He earned his master's degree from the University of Denver in 1957. He moved to Los Angeles, California, in 1959 to begin his doctoral studies at the University of Southern California (USC), which he finished in 1967. He then taught as a faculty member at USC. Brad Loper (born August 17, 1970) is an American photojournalist, best known for winning the Pulitzer Prize for his breaking news photography during Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Albert A. "Bert" Loper (July 31, 1869 – July 8, 1949) was a pioneer of the sport of whitewater river-running in the American Southwest, particularly the Colorado River and its tributaries. He, along with many of the noted boatmen of his era, including Charles Russell, Julius Stone, Ellsworth Kolb, and others, were among the first (and last) people to navigate the Colorado River before the construction of Glen Canyon Dam and Navajo Dam. Major General Herbert Bernard Loper (22 October 1896 – 25 August 1989) was a United States Army officer who helped plan the Mariana and Palau Islands campaign and the Okinawa campaign during World War II. He was chief of the Armed Forces Special Weapons Project from 1952 to 1953, and Chairman of the Military Liaison Committee of the United States Atomic Energy Commission from 1954 to 1961.
