Looney Tunes Golden Collection
The ''Looney Tunes Golden Collection'' is a series of six four-disc DVD box sets from Warner Home Video, each containing about 60 ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' animated shorts. The series began on October 28, 2003, and ended on October 21, 2008. Overview The ''Golden Collection'' series was launched following the success of the ''Walt Disney Treasures'' series which collected archived Disney material. These collections were made possible after the merger of Time Warner (which owned the color cartoons released from August 1, 1948, onward, as well as the black-and-white ''Looney Tunes'', the post-Harman/Ising black-and-white ''Merrie Melodies'' and the first H/I ''Merrie Melodies'' entry '' Lady, Play Your Mandolin!'') and Turner Broadcasting System (which owned the color cartoons released prior to August 1, 1948, and the remaining Harman/Ising ''Merrie Melodies''; most of these cartoons had been released as part of ''The Golden Age of Looney Tunes'' laserdisc series) ...

Bugs Bunny
Bugs Bunny is an animated cartoon character created in the late 1930s by Leon Schlesinger Productions (later Warner Bros. Cartoons) and voiced originally by Mel Blanc. Bugs is best known for his starring roles in the '' Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of animated short films, produced by Warner Bros. Though an early iteration of the character first appeared in the WB cartoon ''Porky's Hare Hunt'' (1938) and a few subsequent shorts, the definitive characterization of Bugs Bunny is widely credited to have debuted in Tex Avery's Oscar-nominated film ''A Wild Hare'' (1940). Bob Givens is credited for Bugs' initial character design, though Robert McKimson is credited for what became Bugs' definitive design just a few years later. Bugs is an anthropomorphic gray and white rabbit or hare who is famous for his flippant, insouciant personality. He is also characterized by a Brooklyn accent, his portrayal as a trickster, and his catch phrase "Eh...What's up, doc?". Due ...

Hare Conditioned
''Hare Conditioned'' is a 1945 Warner Bros. cartoon in the ''Looney Tunes'' series. It was directed by Chuck Jones. Plot Bugs is revealed to be on display in the " Stacey's Department Store" window, helping to advertise camping gear. After closing time, Bugs retires to have a well-earned carrot. The store manager appears and informs Bugs that since the summer sale's over, he's being transferred to another department, which Bugs puzzles over (" tax-ee-doy-mee?") The man tells the rabbit he will look splendid... after he has been "stuffed". Right after Bugs does what he thinks could be a suitable pose, he ponders this for a second. Upon realizing that the manager intends to cut him open to be "stuffed," Bugs screams and begins a cartoon-long chase. The manager then chases Bugs into the jewelry department with a gun and fires when he catches sight of Bugs' ears sticking up from a counter. Bugs moves his ears so the bullets miss, but seems to raise his hands in surrender. As the manag ...

The Hare-Brained Hypnotist
''The Hare-Brained Hypnotist'' is a Warner Bros. '' Merrie Melodies'' cartoon directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on October 23, 1942 and features Bugs Bunny and Elmer Fudd. This cartoon's plot was re-worked for the cartoon ''Hare Brush'' (1955) and its opening music was re-used in '' Hair-Raising Hare'' (1946), '' The Super Snooper'' (1952) and '' Hyde and Hare'' (1955). The title, instead of employing the usual "hare" vs. "hair" pun, is standard spelling, for the expression that indicates thoughtlessness or recklessness. Elmer Fudd permanently goes back to his regular design starting with this cartoon. Plot While in the forest reading a book, ''Stalking Wild Game'', Elmer comes across a passage describing hypnotism just before he bumps into a bear. He hypnotizes the bear into thinking he is a canary and the bear flies away. Bugs then asks Elmer, "What's up, doc?". Elmer states he has him right where he wants him and starts to hypnotize Bugs ("Heh, 'Dracula'", th ...

Gruesome Gorilla
''Gorilla My Dreams'' is a Warner Bros. ''Looney Tunes'' theatrical animated short directed by Robert McKimson and written by Warren Foster. The short was released on January 3, 1948, and stars Bugs Bunny. The story is a parody of the many jungle films that were prominent in the 1930s and 1940s which often featured gorillas extensively (though not always behaviorally accurately), most notably the Tarzan films. The title is a play on the expression "Girl o' My Dreams". The short featured Gruesome Gorilla, who reappeared in ''Hurdy-Gurdy Hare'' and as a boss in ''Bugs Bunny and Taz Time Busters''. The cartoon was remade in 1959 as '' Apes of Wrath''. The Gorillas later make their appearance in '' Looney Tunes Cartoons Valentine’s Extwavaganza!'', only this time in their most substantial role to date where they are voiced by Fred Tatasciore while still being anthropomorphic as usual. Plot "Sweet Dreams, Sweetheart" plays briefly under the title card, and the cartoon opens with a ...

''Bunny Hugged'' is a 1951 Warner Bros. ''Merrie Melodies'' short, directed by Chuck Jones and written by Michael Maltese. The short was released on March 10, 1951, and stars Bugs Bunny. ''Bunny Hugged'' is essentially a re-working of Jones' 1948 short ''Rabbit Punch'', substituting wrestling for boxing. Plot A wrestling match pits professional wrestler Ravishing Ronald, "the de-natured boy" (a parody of Gorgeous George and "Nature Boy" Buddy Rogers) against current champion the Crusher. Bugs, the mascot of Ravishing Ronald ("It's a livin'"), watches from a corner as the Crusher uses Ronald, tied up in his own hairnet, as a punching bag. Worried that he will lose his meal ticket, Bugs decides to enter the match as "The Masked Terror", wearing a covering over his entire head. Yosemite Sam ( /joʊˈsɛmɪti/ ''yoh-SEM-ih-tee'') is a cartoon character in the ''Looney Tunes'' and ''Merrie Melodies'' series of short films produced by Warner Bros. His name is taken from Yosemite National Park. He is an adversary of Bugs Bunny. He is commonly depicted as an extremely aggressive, gunslinging outlaw or cowboy with a hair-trigger temper and an intense hatred of rabbits, Bugs in particular. In cartoons with non-Western themes, he uses various aliases, including "Chilkoot Sam" (named for the Chilkoot Trail; Sam pronounces it "Chilli-koot") and "Square-deal Sam" in '' 14 Carrot Rabbit'', "Riff Raff Sam" in ''Sahara Hare'', "Sam Schultz" in '' Big House Bunny'', "Seagoin' Sam" in '' Buccaneer Bunny'', "Shanghai Sam" in '' Mutiny on the Bunny'', "Von Schamm the Hessian" in ''Bunker Hill Bunny'', "Baron Sam von Schpamm" in '' Dumb Patrol'', and many others. Bugs Bunny Rides Again
''Bugs Bunny Rides Again'' is a 1948 Merrie Melodies animated short directed by Friz Freleng. The short was released on June 12, 1948, and stars Bugs Bunny and Yosemite Sam. The animated short is both a Western and a parody of the genre's conventions. Voice characterizations are performed by Mel Blanc. It is the third cartoon to pair Bugs and Yosemite Sam, after '' Hare Trigger'' (1945) and ''Buccaneer Bunny'' (1948). The title is a typical Western reference, as in "The Lone Ranger rides again", and also suggests a reference to the Jack Benny comedy, ''Buck Benny Rides Again'' (1940). Plot Underscored by a high-energy version of "Cheyenne", a constant hail of bullets flies around the Western town of Rising Gorge. A stream of them sail one way along the main street; a traffic light (an Acme Regulator, in keeping with Looney Tunes tradition) turns red and those bullets hover in mid-air while another torrent of them shoot by on the cross street, though they hesitate to resum ...

Witch Hazel is an animated cartoon character in the Warner Bros. '' Looney Tunes'' and '' Merrie Melodies'' series of cartoons and TV shows. Witch Hazel is a fairy tale witch antagonist with green skin, a round figure, bulbous facial features, and a single tooth. The name is a pun on the witch-hazel plant and folk remedies based on it. Created by Chuck Jones during the golden age of American animation, the character was originally voiced by Bea Benaderet in 1954's '' Bewitched Bunny''. Benaderet would later be replaced by June Foray, who voiced the character almost exclusively beginning with 1956's '' Broom-Stick Bunny'' and concluding with 2002's ''Twick or Tweety''. Tress MacNeille would briefly voice Witch Hazel from 1992 to 1994 for episodes of ''Tiny Toon Adventures'' and ''Animaniacs''. After Foray's departure from the role, the character was voiced by Roz Ryan from 2011 to 2013 for ''The Looney Tunes Show'' (as Witch Lezah) and by Candi Milo from 2017 onward. Witch Ha ...
