Looking Glass Networks, Inc. was an American telecommunications company headquartered in Oak Brook, Illinois. The company provides rapid delivery of data transport services including SONET/SDH, Wavelength-division multiplexing and Ethernet as well as IP connectivity, dark fiber and carrier-neutral colocation. Looking Glass also offers custom design and build services for specific campus or data center requirements. On August 3, 2006, Level 3 Communications acquired Looking Glass, at which time the company's dark fiber offerings were deemphasized in favor of managed lit services. Oak Brook is a village mostly in DuPage County with a small portion in Cook County in Illinois. Per the 2020 census, the population was 8,163. A common example is an ISP point of presence, the local access point that allows users to connect to the Internet with their Internet service provider (ISP). In telecommunications, a diversity scheme refers to a method for improving the reliability of a message signal by using two or more Channel (communications), communication channels with different characteristics. Diversity is mainly used in radio communication and is a common technique for combatting fading and co-channel interference and avoiding error bursts.
