Looking Glass (Looking Glass Album)
''Looking Glass'' is the self-titled debut album released by the band Looking Glass in 1972. Background The group had been playing all up and down the East Coast in clubs, and one night they were spotted by Clive Davis at the Whisky a Go Go. Davis, who at the time was the president of Columbia Records, signed them to the Epic Records label. After trying to record two times (once with Steve Cropper in Memphis), the band began working with Bob Liftin and recorded " Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)". It was not released as the single's A-side, but as the B-side to "Don't It Make You Feel Good" in early 1972. The song went unnoticed by most, but not by Harv Moore, a disc jockey in Washington, D.C. Looking Glass is an American pop rock group of the early 1970s that was part of the Jersey Shore sound. Their 1972 song "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" was a #1 hit on both the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 and ''Cash Box'' Top 100 charts, remaining in the top position for one week. Career The group was formed in 1969, at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. The American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) () is an American not-for-profit performance-rights organization (PRO) that collectively licenses the public performance rights of its members' musical works to venues, broadcasters, and digital streaming services (music stores). Larry Fallon (born Lawrence James Freaso; September 8, 1936 – June 2, 2005) was an American composer, arranger and record producer. Career Fallon's arranger credits include Van Morrison's ''Astral Weeks'', Nico's '' Chelsea Girl'', Jimmy Cliff's '' Wonderful World, Beautiful People'', the Rolling Stones' "Gimme Shelter "Gimme Shelter" is a song by English rock band the Rolling Stones. Sandy Linzer
Sandy Linzer (born 1941) is an American songwriter, lyricist, and record producer, who is best known for his songwriting collaborations with Denny Randell and Bob Crewe in the 1960s and 1970s. He co-wrote hits including "A Lover's Concerto", "Let's Hang On!", " Working My Way Back to You", "Breakin' Down the Walls of Heartache", " Native New Yorker", and "Use It Up and Wear It Out". He was nominated with Randell for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame (SHOF) in 2012. Donald Johnson Ellis (July 25, 1934 – December 17, 1978) was an American jazz trumpeter, drummer, composer, and bandleader. He is best known for his extensive musical experimentation, particularly in the area of time signatures. Eddie Hinton
Eddie Hinton (15 June 1944 – 28 July 1995) was an American songwriter and session musician, best known for his work with soul music and R&B singers. He played lead guitar for Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section from 1969 to 1971 and after leaving the band, he was replaced by Pete Carr as lead guitarist. Career Hinton was born in Jacksonville, Florida, on June 15, 1944, to Laura Deanie and Horton C. Hinton. Hinton's parents divorced in 1949, and he and his mother moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama, where his mother later remarried. He formed the Five Minutes, also known as Five Men-Its, who quickly garnered regional recognition. Tasha Thomas ( – November 8, 1984) was an American singer and actress, known for her role as Aunt Em in the original Broadway production of ''The Wiz''. Thomas also had a hit single, "Shoot Me (With Your Love)", from her 1979 album, ''Midnight Rendezvous''. Her birthplace is often cited as "Jeutyn, Alaska", though no such town exists. Elliot Lurie (born August 19, 1948) is an American musician who was the lead guitarist, songwriter, and co-lead vocalist for the band Looking Glass from 1969 to 1974. He wrote and sang lead on their 1972 #1 hit single "Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" and their 1973 Top 40 single " Jimmy Loves Mary-Anne".
