Longville is a city in Cass County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 156 at the 2010 census. The city was named after its founder, Jim Long. It is roughly four hours north of the Twin Cities. It is part of the Brainerd Micropolitan Statistical Area. Minnesota State Highway 84 serves as a main route in the community, and Minnesota State Highway 200 is nearby. Longville is home to Longville Municipal Airport. Geography According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has an area of , of which is land and is water. Cheney Longville Castle was in the village of Cheney Longville to the north of Craven Arms, Shropshire (). It is a much restored 14th century fortified manor house. Newton Longville is a village and civil parish in the unitary authority area of Buckinghamshire, England. The village is about south-west of Bletchley. History The toponym "Newton" is derived from the Old English for "new farm". It is recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086 as ''Nevtone''. The affix "Longville" was added in the 13th century after the Cluniac priory of Longueville, Calvados, in Normandy, France, that held the manor of Newton at that time, and to distinguish this village from other places called Newton, particularly nearby Newton Blossomville. In 1441, when its previous holder died without an heir, the Crown bestowed the manor on the Warden and fellows of New College, Oxford. East West Rail is a major project to establish a strategic railway connecting East Anglia with Central, Southern and Western England. In particular, it plans to build (or rebuild) a line linking Oxford and Cambridge via Bicester, Milton Keynes (at Bletchley) and Bedford, largely using the trackbed of the former Varsity Line.
