Longki Djanggola
Longki Djanggola is an Indonesian politician and currently the governor of Central Sulawesi. He was responsible for launching the province's joint Chinese-Indonesian nickel smelter at Morowali Industrial Park in 2015. Djanggola was also the presiding civilian official over the efforts to apprehend members of Mujahidin Indonesia Timur (MIT), encouraging their membership at large to surrender after several of their leaders were eliminated during Operation Tinombala. Central Sulawesi (Indonesian: ''Sulawesi Tengah'') is a province of Indonesia located at the centre of the island of Sulawesi. The administrative capital and largest city is located in Palu. Morowali Industrial Park
The Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) is an industrial park hosting primarily nickel-related industries in Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, Indonesia. It is the largest nickel processing site in Indonesia, which is the world's top nickel producer. In 2023, ''Wired'' magazine called it "the world's epicenter for nickel production." The park is a joint venture between Indonesian mining company Bintang Delapan Group and the Chinese firm Tsingshan Holding Group. IMIP's activities have seriously polluted the local environment and disrupted nearby communities. Operation Tinombala
Operation Madago Raya ( id, Operasi Madago Raya), previously known as Operation Tinombala, is a joint police–military operation conducted by the Indonesian National Police and the Indonesian Armed Forces to capture and/or eliminate members of Mujahidin Indonesia Timur (MIT), an Indonesian terrorist group which supports ISIL and was commanded by Santoso. In 2016, the Indonesian military and police succeeded in killing Santoso, but the then Chief of the National Police Tito Karnavian continued the operation to ensure the region's safety from the remaining members of the group. Central Sulawesi governor Longki Djanggola praised the operation for its relatively humane methods, since several leaders of the group were successfully captured alive. The East Indonesia Mujahideen ( id, Mujahidin Indonesia Timur; abbreviated MIT) is a terrorist group operating out of Poso, Sulawesi in Indonesia. The group was led by Abu Wardah (also known as Santoso) until he was killed by Indonesian police on 18 July 2016. After the death of Santoso, the group was led by Ali Kalora until he was killed on 18 September 2021. The group has pledged allegiance to the Islamic State. MIT was proscribed by the United Nations Security Council under the Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee on 29 September 2015. The US Department of State has designated MIT as a terrorist organisation.
