Long Meadow Grove
Long Meadow Grove, also known as Redwood Meadow Grove, is a giant sequoia grove located within Sequoia National Forest approximately west of Johnsondale, California. The grove is part of the southern section of Giant Sequoia National Monument and is administered by the U.S. Forest Service. Overview Long Meadow Grove is located primarily on the west side of Western Divide Highway (M 107), directly across the road from Redwood Meadow Campground. The grove is relatively flat and easily accessible from the main road. It is best to visit in the summer when the road is open, or in the winter when accessible only by skis or snowmobile. A small vehicle fee is charged to help maintain and improve facilities at the grove, the most recent of which was the construction of a wooden boardwalk that was completed in 2018. Tulare County ( ) is a county located in the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census, the population was 473,117. The county seat is Visalia. The county is named for Tulare Lake, once the largest freshwater lake west of the Great Lakes. Drained for agricultural development, the site is now in Kings County, which was created in 1893 from the western portion of the formerly larger Tulare County. List Of Giant Sequoia Groves
This is a list of giant sequoia groves. All naturally occurring giant sequoia groves are located in the moist, unglaciated ridges and valleys of the western slope of the Sierra Nevada range in California, United States. They can be found at elevations between . While many groves are within national park boundaries, such as Sequoia National Park and Yosemite National Park, most of the giant sequoia groves are under the care of the United States Forest Service, placing them outside the legislative mandate that excludes commercial timber harvest. 2021 California Wildfires
The 2021 California wildfire season was a series of wildfires that burned across the state of California. As of December 16, 2021, a total of 8,619 fires have been recorded, burning across the state. At least 3,629 buildings have been destroyed by the wildfires, and at least seven firefighters and two civilians have been injured battling the fires. The wildfire season in California experienced an unusually early start amid an ongoing drought and historically low rainfall and reservoir levels.
