June Loney
June Ellen Loney MBE (1930 – 5 June 2016) was an Australian harpist. Biography Loney was born in 1930 in Hurstville, Sydney, the youngest of six children of Irish migrant parents. As a child, she had piano lessons with local convent nuns. Later she studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, achieving a Licentiate in Music (LMusA). After graduating, Loney performed and accompanied other musicians in Australian Broadcasting Corporation studios. However, she wanted to perform in an orchestra and decided to learn the harp. She started lessons with concert harpist Evan Davies, followed by Elizabeth Vidler, principal harp with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra (SSO). Loney was given the position of second harp for the SSO and in 1963, when Vidler retired, she was appointed principal harpist. Loney held this position until 1984. Peter James Loney (born 3 February 1948 in Daylesford, Victoria) was an Australian politician. He was an Australian Labor Party member of the Victorian Legislative Assembly from 1992 to 2006, representing the electorates of Geelong North (1992-2002) and its successor Lara (2002-2006). He also served as Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly. Loney began his political career in 1992 as a shadow minister before serving on the Victorian Parliament's Public Accounts and Estimates Committee in 1997–2003. John Loney
Edison John Clayton Loney (23 February 1929 – 22 January 2017) was a member of the House of Commons of Canada in the 1960s and again in the 1990s. His career has been in agriculture and business. Loney, a Progressive Conservative for most of his political career, first won a seat in Canadian Parliament during the 1963 federal election for the Bruce electoral district in Ontario. He was re-elected there in the 1965 federal election, but defeated in 1968. During this time, Loney served in the 26th and 27th Canadian Parliaments. Loney made further unsuccessful attempts to regain the Bruce riding in 1972 and 1974.
