''Lonely Heart Bandits'' is a 1950 American drama film directed by George Blair (director), George Blair and written by Gene Lewis. George Blair (December 6, 1905 – April 19, 1970) was an American film director who worked generally on supporting features including many B-Westerns. Kathleen Freeman (February 17, 1923August 23, 2001) was an American actress. In a career that spanned more than 50 years, she portrayed acerbic maids, secretaries, teachers, busybodies, nurses, and battle-axe neighbors and relatives, almost invariably to comic effect. Leonard Penn (13 November 1907 – 20 May 1975) was an American film, television and theatre actor. Early life and education Penn was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, to parents Marcus Penn and Eva Monson. He majored in drama at Columbia University. Sammy McKim (December 20, 1924 – July 9, 2004) was a Canadian film actor and artist. He graduated from Los Angeles Art Center with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and was born in Vancouver, British Columbia. He died in Burbank, California from heart failure in 2004. McKim Served in the U.S. Army in 1943 with his brother David McKim where he fought in the Korean War. He earned the Distinguished Service Cross medal for being shot down in combat during the Korean War. After the war McKim stopped acting and became an artist, starting his career at the art department of Fox Studios before moving to the Walt Disney Company where he'd stay for the next 32 years until his retirement in 1987, 12 of which he would work closely with Walt Disney. Edward Frank Dunn (March 31, 1896 – May 5, 1951) was an American actor best known for his roles in comedy films, supporting many comedians such as Charley Chase (with whom he co-directed several short films), Charlie Chaplin, W. C. Fields and Laurel and Hardy. Dunn was born in Brooklyn, New York. As a high school student in Waco, Texas, he began performing with some fellow students on a local radio station. He broke into films with the Vitagraph studio in 1915, working with the studio's star comedians Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Drew and Larry Semon. By 1927 he was working with stop-motion animator Charley Bowers at Educational Pictures, as a supporting player in Bowers's live-action comedies.
