Lone Star College–University Park
Lone Star College–University Park is one of two university centers in the Lone Star College System located in unincorporated Harris County, Texas, United States. The campus serves northwest Harris County. The center opened its doors in January 2010 with limited degree programs and courses offered by the University of Houston and the University of Houston–Downtown, both of which are separate and distinct degree-granting institutions. The campus includes a conference center, which will be used for Lone Star Corporate College training and community meetings; a 900-seat, fully equipped cafeteria; and a fitness center. Lone Star had purchased the facility from Hewlett Packard in 2010. In August 2011 Lone Star College announced that it was demolishing two former HP buildings on the campus, at the intersection of Texas State Highway 249 and Louetta Road. Lone Star College (LSC) is a public community college system serving the northern portions of the Greater Houston, Texas, area. In 2017, it enrolled about 95,000 students. The headquarters of the Lone Star College System are located in The Woodlands and in unincorporated Montgomery County, Texas. History The voters of the Aldine, Spring, and Humble school districts created North Harris County College in 1972 and opened the college for classes in 1973.
