Lone Buffalo Winery
Lone Buffalo Vineyards is a winery in Auburn, California in the United States. History Lone Buffalo was started in 2007 by the Maddux family in Auburn, California. They owned a one-acre vineyard. Phil Maddux, who is the winemaker and works as a real estate lawyer, is originally from Sonoma County, California. He has studied oenology at Sonoma State University and University of California, Davis. He started making wine in 1971. He has worked under Dirk Arrowood and Cecil DeLoach. He also made his own home wine prior to opening his own winery. Maddux's wife, Jill, handles the sales, accounting, and also assists with their property management. The couples daughter, Jocelyn, is in charge of public relations. They all work in the tasting room. The name for the winery came from Phil Maddux's fascination with the American bison. American Bison
The American bison (''Bison bison'') is a species of bison native to North America.
