Londres is a small tourist town in the Belén Department of Catamarca Province, Argentina. It is situated at above sea level alongside the ''Ruta Nacional 40''. It is at the foot of Shincal mountains, near the Quimivil river and is traditionally divided into two parts "Arriba" (Spanish for Upper) and "Abajo" (for Lower), divided by the "Hondo" River. Nueva Londres (, ''New London'') is a town southwest in the Caaguazú department of Paraguay. It has an area of 883 square kilometers and according to the census of 2002 has 3,875 inhabitants. It is located 137 km from the city of Asuncion. History In 1893 two thousand men and women led by William Lane left Australia for Paraguay where they established a utopian socialist colony called "New Australia". The colony was not a success, but their descendants can be found just over 200km from Foz do Iguaçu. Among the settlers were Richard Smith and John Smith. Albert Londres
Albert Londres (1 November 1884 – 16 May 1932) was a French journalist and writer. One of the inventors of investigative journalism, Londres not only reported news but created it, and reported it from a personal perspective. He criticized abuses of colonialism such as forced labour. Albert Londres gave his name to a journalism prize, the Prix Albert-Londres, for Francophone journalists. Biography Londres was born in Vichy in 1884. After finishing secondary school, he went to Lyon in 1901 to work as a bookkeeper, then moved to Paris in 1903. He wrote occasional articles for newspapers from his native region, and published his first poetry in 1904. The same year, he started as correspondent in Paris for the Lyon newspaper ''Le Salut Public''. The Albert Londres Prize is the highest French journalism award, named in honor of journalist Albert Londres. Created in 1932, it was first awarded in 1933 and is considered the French equivalent of the Pulitzer Prize. Three laureates are awarded each year. The three categories are : "best reporter in the written press", "best audiovisual reporter" and "best reporting book". History On the death of Albert Londres, on 16 May 1932, his daughter, Florise Martinet-Londres, decided to create an award in his memory. ''Radio Londres'' (, French for "Radio London") was a radio station broadcast from 1940 to 1944 by the BBC in London to German occupation of France during World War II, Nazi-occupied France. ''The Expanse'' is a series of science fiction novels (and related novellas and short stories) by James S. A. Corey, the joint pen name of authors Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck.
