London Rockin' Rollers (LRR) is a flat-track roller derby league based in London, England. Founded in 2007, the league is a member of both the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) and the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). League History The league was started in 2007, by a group of founding members including Jackie Mason (derby name Jack Attack). At the time, there were only two other roller derby teams in the UK: the London Rollergirls and the Birmingham Blitz Dames. The team participated in the UK's first ever closed-door, interleague scrimmage (practice game) against Birmingham on 1 July 2007. They made history again later in the year when they played the Stuttgart Valley Roller Girlz in Europe's first international bout on 14 October, which they lost 94-71. The 2011 Roller Derby World Cup was an international women's roller derby tournament organized by ''Blood & Thunder'' magazine. Teams of amateur skaters from around the world were fielded to compete for their respective nations. The inaugural 2011 Roller Derby World Cup was hosted by Toronto Roller Derby, and was held December 1 through 4, 2011, at Supply Depot (Toronto), The Bunker at Downsview Park in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It was won by Team USA (roller derby), Team USA, who beat Team Canada (roller derby), Team Canada by a score of 336 points to 33 in the final. Nottingham Hellfire Harlots Roller Derby is a flat track roller derby league based in Nottingham, England. Founded in April 2010, the league has two travel teams who play against teams from other leagues. It is a member of the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA) and the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). History The league was founded in May 2010 by seven former members of the Nottingham Roller Derby. The main focus was to create a driven and, most importantly, competitive amateur sporting team. WFTDA Championships
The International Women's Flat Track Derby Association Championships ("WFTDA Championships" or "Champs" for short) are the leading competition for roller derby leagues. The Championships are organised by the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). They originated in 2006 as the National WFTDA Championship. Women's Flat Track Derby Association Rankings
Rankings for the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) are used to determine placement in overall standings (rather than win–loss record) and also to determine seedings at WFTDA Playoffs. Achieving high rankings is also a goal for teams aiming to increase their stature in the organization. Each year at the end of June, teams are seeded into Division 1 and Division 2 playoff tournaments. Historically, the top 40 teams in the WFTDA as of June 30 were eligible for Division 1 tournaments that season, and the teams ranked 41–60 were eligible for Division 2 tournaments. For 2017, the Division 1 cutoff was reduced to the top 36 teams, with the next 16 teams qualifying for Division 2 Playoffs. Team Scotland Roller Derby
Team Scotland Roller Derby represents Scotland in women's international roller derby, in events such as the Roller Derby World Cup. The team was first formed to compete at the 2011 Roller Derby World Cup, and finished the tournament in eleventh place. Team Scotland played two warm-up matches for the World Cup, beating both a "rest of Scotland" team, and the "Northern All-Stars", consisting of skaters from the north of England. At the World Cup, Scotland lost narrowly to Aotearoa Roller Derby, New Zealand, 124 to 111, and overwhelmingly to USA Roller Derby, Team USA, 435 to 1. Although this led to the becoming the lowest-ranked team in the consolation stage, they beat Argentina All Stars, Team Argentina and later beat Roller Derby Brasil, Team Brazil, to finish eleventh out of thirteen teams.
