London Gryphons is a Canadian women's soccer team, founded in 2004. The team is a member of the USL W-League, the second tier of women's soccer in the United States and Canada. The team plays its home games at North London Stadium in the city of London, Ontario. The club's colours are navy blue, white and red. For 2010 season the team played in the Midwest Division of the Central Conference. Sylvia Gee
Sylvia Gee (born 30 November 1977) is a former Republic of Ireland women's international footballer who has spent the majority of her career playing in various women's association football leagues in the Republic of Ireland and the United States. Between 2003 and 2007, Gee was a prominent member and captain of the successful UCD team which qualified for the UEFA Women's Cup on three successive occasions. Playing career Early years Gee grew up on a farm in County Offaly before attending Wesley College, Dublin between 1990 and 1996, where she studied for her Leaving Cert. At Wesley, Gee played several sports including field hockey and indoor soccer. Eric Miller was one of her fellow students. The 2009 W-League Season was the league's 15th. The regular season began on May 8 with the Hampton Roads Piranhas defeating the Charlotte Lady Eagles 2–1 in Charlotte, North Carolina, Charlotte. The season ended with 10 games on July 19. The playoffs began on July 22 and ended on August 7. Pali Blues repeated as W-League champions, defeating the Washington Freedom Reserves in come-from-behind fashion 2–1, which was also how they had won their previous title. Iris Mora was named the Playoffs MVP. F.C. Indiana (W-League), FC Indiana's Laura del Río finished with the most points (40) and goals (18), while her teammate Monica Ocampo led the league in assists (11). The 2008 W-League Season was the league's 14th. The regular season began on May 10, 2008, and ended on July 20. Pali Blues finished the season as national champions, beating FC Indiana 2-1 in the W-League Championship game in Virginia Beach, Virginia on 2 August 2008. The Pali Blues also finished with the best regular season record in the league, winning all 12 of their matches, and finishing with a +35 goal difference. Atlanta Silverbacks Women's striker Sarah Steinmann was the league's top scorer, with 19 goals.
