London Fields Brewery
__NOTOC__ London Fields Brewery is a brewery in the London Fields area of London Borough of Hackney, Hackney, East London, in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 2011 as the first commercial brewery to open in Hackney since the 19th century . In December 2014, the company fell into trouble following the arrest of co-founder Julian de Vere Whiteway-Wilkinson, on suspicion of tax evasion. In 2017, London Fields Brewery was purchased in a joint-venture by Brooklyn Brewery and Carlsberg UK with plans to bring brewing back onsite. History The brewery opened on 27 August 2011, at 374 Helmsley Place. It was the first commercial brewery to open in Hackney since the 19th century. Five beers were produced, named: ''Hackney Hopster'', ''London Fields Bitter'', ''London Fields Session Ale'', ''London Fields Gold'' and ''Love Not War''. Brooklyn Brewery is a brewery in Brooklyn, New York City, United States. It was started in 1988 by Steve Hindy and Tom Potter. History Hindy learned to brew beer during a six-year stay in various Middle Eastern nations such as Saudi Arabia and Kuwait. Upon his return to his home in Brooklyn in 1984, he and Potter, his downstairs neighbor from Park Slope, quit their jobs and founded the brewery. The pair hired graphic designer Milton Glaser, best known as the creator of the logo for the ''I Love New York'' campaign, to create the company logo and identity. London Fields is a park in Hackney, London, although the name also refers to the immediate area in Hackney surrounding it and London Fields station. It is common land adjoining the Hackney Central area of the London Borough of Hackney. The park covers an area of , and includes sporting and recreation facilities. 2011 England Riots
The 2011 England riots, more widely known as the London riots, were a series of riots between 6 and 11 August 2011. Thousands of people rioted in cities and towns across England, which saw looting, arson, as well as mass deployment of police and the deaths of five people. The protests started in Tottenham Hale, London, following the death of Mark Duggan, a local man who was shot dead by police on 4 August. Several violent clashes with police followed Duggan's death, along with the destruction of police vehicles, a double-decker bus and many homes and businesses, which rapidly gained the attention of the media.
