London Buses Route 465
London Buses route 465 is a joint Transport for London and Surrey County Council contracted bus route in London and Surrey, England. Running between Kingston and Dorking, it is operated by London United. The route extends the furthest from London of all Transport for London routes. History From around the mid-1990s, service 465 was operated by London & Country. Upon being re-tendered, it passed to Tellings-Golden Miller on 1 May 1999 and was extended past Kingston to Tellings' Fulwell Bus Garage. On 17 June 2005, route 465 was included in the sale of Tellings-Golden Miller to Travel London. In May 2006 the route was curtailed at Kingston and replaced by a new, less frequent route 481, despite a protest by a local group to keep the service. Upon being re-tendered, on 30 June 2007 the route passed to Arriva Guildford & West Surrey. Quality Line
Quality Line was a bus company based in Epsom, England. A subsidiary of the RATP Group, Quality Line operated bus services throughout the South West (London sub region), South West London and Surrey area, with many under contract to Transport for London. London Buses Route 406
London Buses route 406 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London and Surrey, England. Running between Kingston and Epsom, it is operated by London United. History Route 406 started in 1920 as route S6 between Kingston and Redhill, and was renumbered as 406 in 1924. In 1957, the second prototype AEC Routemaster ran on route 406 between Redhill and Kingston. It was later shortened to operate just between Kingston and Epsom. Following the Privatisation of London bus services the route became part of London Country South West. In 1991,the route was diverted at Surbiton Hill Road via Surbiton Station to Kingston. On 27 January 2001 it became a tendered Transport for London route with London United's Hounslow garage taking over operation. A proposal to extend the 406 to Teddington in 2001 was not received favourably by residents and did not proceed. Arriva Guildford & West Surrey was a bus operator based in Guildford, England. It was a subsidiary of Arriva. The company operated services in West Sussex and Surrey, as part of the Arriva Southern Counties division. Services that were run were primarily centred on hubs at Guildford, Woking and Cranleigh. Fulwell Bus Garage is a Transport for London bus garage located in Twickenham in west London. It is north of Fulwell railway station and operates as two halves, with entrances on the A311 Wellington Road and B358 Stanley Road. It is currently operated by Abellio (London & Surrey), Abellio London and London United Busways, London United. History Fulwell Bus Garage was originally built as a tram depot for London United Tramways in 1902. The site formerly formed the southerly part of the Charles James Freake, Freake Fulwell Park, Fulwell Park Estate and came on the market following the death of the Dowager Lady Freake in 1901. London United Tramways acquired a 99-year lease of the site in April 1902 for a new tram depot. This was completed in March 1903, just as new tram routes to Hampton Court Palace started operating. Tellings-Golden Miller is a charter coach operator in England. It was a subsidiary of Arriva twice previously, but once again has returned to family ownership. The company is now a subsidiary of Falcon Coaches based in Byfleet, Surrey. History Golden Miller Reputedly, Fred Varney founded the Golden Miller company with the winnings from a bet made on the horse Golden Miller, which won the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Grand National in 1934. In 1955 Golden Miller was sold to FG Wilder & Sons Limited of Feltham with two coaches and a booking office in Twickenham. In 1967 Wilder bought out ''Tourist Bus Service'' which had one vehicle and a stage carriage licence for route 601 between Feltham station and East Bedfont, which it had operated since 1955.
