Lon Pennock
Leonardus Petrus Paulus "Lon" Pennock (22 May 1945, The Hague, – 9 March 2020, The Hague) was a Dutch sculptor, environmental artist, monumental artist and photographer. Life and work Pennock studied sculpture at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague from 1962 to 1967. He then continued his studies with a French scholarship to the École nationale supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris until 1968. In 1969 he received both the Buys van Hulten price as the Jacob Maris incentive price. Twice he was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of Culture, Recreation and Social Work in 1973 and in 1979. Pennock was trained as a traditional sculptor, but quickly turned into an abstract, even minimalist artist. Pennock lived and worked in The Hague, where he was born. Royal Academy Of Art, The Hague
The Royal Academy of Art (KABK, nl, Koninklijke Academie van Beeldende Kunsten) is an art and design academy in The Hague. Succeeding the ''Haagsche Teeken-Academie'' (part of the Confrerie Pictura), the academy was founded on 29 September 1682, making it the oldest in the Netherlands and one of the oldest in the world. The academy has been the training ground for a number of significant artists of the Hague School. It was part of the art movement of Dutch Impressionism and in the immediate vicinity of the II. Golden Age of Dutch painting. In the 19th century, however, training was still strongly oriented towards the classic curriculum. The Beaux-Arts de Paris is a French ''grande école'' whose primary mission is to provide high-level arts education and training. This is classical and historical School of Fine Arts in France. Spaarnwoude
Spaarnwoude is a village in the Dutch province of North Holland. It is a part of the municipality of Haarlemmermeer and lies about northeast of Haarlem. Overview The village was first mentioned in the first half of the 11th century as Spirnerewalt, and means "forest along the Spaarne river". The former Dutch Reformed church dates from 1764, but has a tower from the 13th century. It was decommissioned in 1880, but is still used for cultural activities. North of Spaarnwoude lies the Spaarnwoude recreation area, which is located in the municipalities of Velsen and Haarlemmermeer. There is a railway station, Haarlem Spaarnwoude, which lies southwest of the village. An IKEA shop is nearby, on the north side. To the east of IKEA is the Veerplas. Spaarnwoude was home to 443 people in 1840. It was a separate municipality until 1857, when it merged with Haarlemmerliede. It was named after one of its most famous alumni, Dutch fine artist Willem de Kooning.
