Lola T210
The Lola T210, and its evolution, the Lola T212, are Group 6 (racing), Group 6 sports prototype race cars, designed, developed and built by British manufacturer Lola Cars, Lola, for the newly created European 2-Litre Championship, European 2-Litre sports car racing championship, in 1970. History The body and bodywork were made of aluminum, with a double wishbone suspension at the front directly connected to the monocoque. The car's rear had a steel frame to house the engine, gearbox, and suspension. Pushing the car was the 1.8-liter Cosworth FVC which had half the engine block derived from that of the Cosworth DFV and developed 180 kW (245 hp). Lola produced a total of 16 chassis, most of which were sold to private stables. The T210 in 139 races between 1970 and 1975, achieved 29 overall and seven class victories. Group 6 (racing)
Group 6 was the official designation applied by the FIA to two motor racing classifications, the Prototype-Sports Car category from 1966 to 1971 and the Two-Seater Racing Cars class from 1976 to 1982. Group 6 Prototype-Sports Cars (1966 to 1971) The original Group 6 was introduced for the 1966 racing season, at the same time as a new Group 4 Sports Car category. Whilst Group 4 specified that competing cars must be one of at least fifty examples built, Group 6 had no minimum production requirement. A sports prototype, sometimes referred to as simply a prototype, is a type of race car that is used in the highest-level categories of sports car racing. These purpose-built racing cars, unlike street-legal and production-based racing cars, are not intended for consumer purchase or production beyond that required to compete and win races. Prototype racing cars have competed in sports car racing since before World War II, but became the top echelon of sports cars in the 1960s as they began to replace homologated sports cars. Lola Cars
Lola Cars International Ltd. was a British race car engineering company in operation from 1958 to 2012. The company was founded by Eric Broadley in Bromley, England (then in Kent, now part of Greater London), before moving to new premises in Slough, Buckinghamshire and finally Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, and endured for more than fifty years to become one of the oldest and largest manufacturers of racing cars in the world. Eric Harrison Broadley MBE (22 September 1928 – 28 May 2017) was a British entrepreneur, engineer, and founder and chief designer of Lola Cars, the motor racing manufacturer and engineering company. He was arguably one of the most influential automobile designers of the post-war period, and over the years Lola was involved with many high-profile projects in Formula One, IndyCar, and sports car racing.
