Lois Hire
Lois Hire (1916-2006) was a television writer known for her work on ''My Three Sons'', ''The Brady Bunch'', ''Bonanza'', and ''The Beverly Hillbillies''. She also wrote the 1975 comedy ''Half a House''. Born Lois Elkins in Selma, Alabama. After graduating from high school, she moved west, first to Reno, Nevada, where she had a brief relationship with Judson Stevens. They had one daughter, who was born in San Francisco in 1936. She moved to Los Angeles during World War II and worked on an aircraft assembly line, where she met her future husband, Argyl F. (Jack) Hire. They had two children, a son and a daughter, both born in Los Angeles. They resided in first Van Nuys (San Fernando Valley), and later in the Encino hills. She enrolled in a script-writing extension course at Hollywood High School at the age of 44, and one of her instructors passed one of her assignments along to a friend who worked on ''The Loretta Young Show'', where it was accepted and produced in 1960. Selma, Alabama
Selma is a city in and the county seat of Dallas County, in the Black Belt region of south central Alabama and extending to the west. Located on the banks of the Alabama River, the city has a population of 17,971 as of the 2020 census. About 80% of the population is African-American. Selma was a trading center and market town during the antebellum years of King Cotton in the South. It was also an important armaments-manufacturing and iron shipbuilding center for the Confederacy during the Civil War, surrounded by miles of earthen fortifications. The Confederate forces were defeated during the Battle of Selma, in the final full month of the war. In modern times, the city is best known for the 1960s civil rights movement and the Selma to Montgomery marches, beginning with "Bloody Sunday" in 1965 and ending with 25,000 people entering Montgomery at the end of the last march to press for voting rights. ''Pistols 'n' Petticoats'' is an American Western sitcom starring Ann Sheridan that ran on CBS during the 1966-1967 television season. It was produced by Kayro/Universal Television for CBS Productions and ran from September 17, 1966 to March 11, 1967. The series was created by George Tibbles, who wrote the show's theme song. This was one of two sitcoms that ran on CBS with the "Petticoat" name in its title at the time, the other being ''Petticoat Junction'', which was produced by Filmways and has no connection to this program. The series was broadcast on ABC during its first five seasons, before moving to CBS for the remaining seasons.
