Aloys Loeher
Aloys Loeher (1850–1904) was an American sculptor. He created a signature piece which was exhibited at the 1893 Columbian Exposition. Among his other works are the Siegfried Monument in New York, the Fritz Reuter Monument in Chicago, and a number of medals and busts. Life He was born in Paderborn, Germany. He emigrated to the U.S., settling first in New York in 1883 and then Milwaukee in 1889. While living in New York 1883-1889, Loeher was referenced several times in the New York Herald. The first, in 1883, refers to "Alois Loher, a Bavarian, a recent addition" in a piece about "Art and Artists on the Future of American Sculpture." In 1886, an article appeared in the New York Herald about the Statue of Germania, "a work just completed in the clay by Alois Loeher". In 1889, Loeher moved to Wisconsin and became a resident of Milwaukee County, Wisconsin. Dea Loher
Dea Loher (born 1964) is a German playwright and author. Biography Dea Loher was born Andrea Beate Loher in 1964 in Traunstein, Bavaria, Germany. She initially used the first name Dea as a pen name, but eventually changed her name officially to Dea. She studied German literature and philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. She then spent a year in Brazil. In 1990, she began studying creative writing for the stage with Heiner Müller and Yaak Karsunke at the Berlin University of the Arts. Her first plays premiered in the early 1990s, and she gained recognition as one of the most important young playwrights of her time in Germany.Dea Loher (Germany). Franz Von Löher
Franz von Löher (15 October 1818, Paderborn, Westphalia – 1 March 1892, Munich) numbered among the democrats during the revolutions of 1848 in Germany. He was a German jurist and historian. He toured the United States extensively. Biography He studied law, history, natural science, and art at Halle, Munich, Freiburg, and Berlin, and traveled extensively in Europe, Canada, and the United States 1846-1847. The end of his travels in the United States found him in Cincinnati where he remained for seven months. Here he held some public presentations on "the significance of the German people in world history." Later he gathered these presentations together and published them as ''Geschichte und Zustände der Deutschen in Amerika'' (History and condition of the Germans in America; Cincinnati, 1848). Loher Cashel
Loher Cashel is a stone ringfort (cashel) and National Monument located on the Iveragh Peninsula, Ireland. Location Loher Cashel is situated on the western edge of the Iveragh Peninsula overlooking Ballinskelligs Bay, northwest of Derrynane. This location may have been chosen for its view of Skellig Michael. History The cashel was built around the 9th century AD as a defended farmstead. It was recently reconstructed. Description This is a circular stone ringfort (''caiseal'') of internal diameter with outer walls over high and thick accessible by stairways. It is built of drystone with gaps filled in with rubble. In the interior are a large round house and a smaller rectangular house; archaeology has shown that these were preceded by wooden buildings.
