Morona Santiago () is a province in Ecuador. The province was established on February 24, 1954. The capital is Macas. Economy The provincial economy is industrially unexploited to its potential due to poor means of transportation. Its economy relies largely on the tourist sector of the rain forest. Logroño
Logroño () is the capital of the province of La Rioja, situated in northern Spain. Traversed in its northern part by the Ebro River, Logroño has historically been a place of passage, such as the Camino de Santiago. Its borders were disputed between the Iberian kingdoms of Castille, Navarre and Aragon during the Middle Ages. The population of the city in 2021 was 150,808 while the metropolitan area included nearly 200,000 inhabitants. Logroño is a town in Morona-Santiago Province, Ecuador. It is the seat of Logroño Canton. It has a population of 5,723, the majority of which are Shuar. There is a network of limestone caves 2 km from the town, "Caverna de Las Cascadas". History Logroño has been inhabited for over 500 years by the Shuar. In 1930, the first to explore the area were missionaries who traveled down from the highlands of Ecuador (Azuay and Canar). The first evangelical missionary settlements were located south of Logrono (in Chupiankas) and the first catholic missionaries were located in the town center of Logroño. Due to its geographic location and economic assets, Logroño began its intent to become a canton on 14 October 1992, and official canton and political status were recognized on 22 January 1997.
