Loggerheads, Denbighshire
Loggerheads is a village in Denbighshire, Wales on the River Alyn, a tributary of the River Dee, Wales, River Dee. It is the location of Loggerheads Country Park which follows the course of the River Alyn through Karst topography, karstic limestone countryside including the sites of old lead Mining, mines and mills. There is a working flour mill on site. A leat or leete, built around 1824, follows the side of the valley nearby and was used to carry water to the lead mines of Mold Mines, on land owned by the Grosvenor (surname), Grosvenor family. It is now the popular Leete Walk. The name Loggerheads may come from the dispute over estate boundaries between the lordships of Mold, Flintshire, Mold and Llanferres. The final boundary is marked by ''Carreg Carn March Arthur'' which is said to bear the imprint of King Arthur, Arthur's horse's hoof after it jumped from the nearby mountain, Moel Famau. Loggerhead Sponge
''Spheciospongia vesparium'', commonly known as the loggerhead sponge, is a species of sea sponge belonging to the family Clionaidae. While it is highly toxic to many fish, this sponge is eaten by certain angelfish and is known to form part of the diet of the hawksbill sea turtle (''Eretmochelys imbricata''). Description This massive sponge has varying forms in different locations. One common form is barrel-shaped or cake-shaped with a flattened top, but it may also be roughly globular or amorphous. The texture is firm, tough and dense. The surface is broadly undulating and rough, with a mixture of large and small osculi surrounded by groups of fine pores, each in diameter. The color of the sponge both inside and out is purplish, gray or brownish-black, and the surface is often partly obscured by sediment or by algae growing on it. The Shropshire flag is the county flag of Shropshire. USS ''Loggerhead'' (SS-374/AGSS-374), a ''Balao''-class submarine, was a ship of the United States Navy named for the loggerhead, ''Caretta caretta'', a very large, carnivorous sea turtle common in the warmer parts of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans. It was released 8 July 2022 by Warp Records, and was his first with the label after releasing his debut album, ''Ginga'', independently in 2015. Writing and recording for the album began in London, though mainly took place in Norway. ''Loggerheads'' was a 1925 Broadway three-act comedy written by Ralph Cullinan and produced by Barry Macollum and Whitford Kane with Macollum also playing Padna Collins and Kane playing Corny Halpin. It ran for 72 performances from February 9, 1925 to April 1925 at the Cherry Lane Theatre. Actress Gail Kane was not related to Whitford Kane. Time Magazine—from a February 23, 1925 article—says this about the play: "An Irish sea-coast comedy, with a sob here and there, slipped quietly into the tiny Cherry Lane Theatre in Greenwich Village and was welcomed quietly. Loggerheads is a village and civil parish in north-west Staffordshire, England, on the A53 between Market Drayton and Newcastle-under-Lyme. The village is close to the border with Shropshire and Cheshire. It has a Telford postcode and a Shropshire address, but is governed by the Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough Council in Staffordshire. The civil parish extends north east from the Shropshire Union Canal outside Market Drayton.
