Adam Loewen
Adam Alexander Loewen (born April 9, 1984) is a Canadian former professional baseball pitcher and outfielder. He pitched in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Baltimore Orioles from 2006 to 2008, before converting to a position player and playing with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2011. After spending the next two seasons in the minors as a position player, Loewen converted back to being a pitcher, and was called up to the Philadelphia Phillies in August 2015. He pitched for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2016. Though there have been full-time pitchers who have converted to full-time position players, and vice versa, Loewen's three stage career (converting from full-time pitcher to full-time position player and back to full-time pitcher) is unique in major league history. William H. Loewen is an entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political figure in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Loewen was raised in Elkhorn, Manitoba, and later moved to Winnipeg. His wife Shirley Loewen is a prominent figure in the Winnipeg arts community, and his nephew John Loewen is a former member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba. He was named to the Order of Canada in 1999, to the Winnipeg Citizens Hall of Fame in 2008, and to the Order of Manitoba in 2018. Businessman Loewen is a chartered accountant. He launched the payroll cheque company Comcheq Services in 1968 on an investment of $15,000, and turned the company into a national success. Cynthia Dussault Loewen (born November 13, 1993) is a Canadian bloger, model and beauty pageant titleholder who was crowned Miss Earth Canada 2014 in Montreal, Canada on August 23, 2014. Darcy Loewen (born February 26, 1969) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. Loewen played 135 games in the National Hockey League with the Buffalo Sabres and Ottawa Senators between 1989 and 1994. Career Loewen first gained attention as a member of the WHL's Spokane Chiefs, twice scoring 30 or more goals in a season. He was drafted in the third round (55th overall) by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft and represented Canada at the 1989 World Junior Championships. Loewen turned pro in 1989-90 with Buffalo's AHL affiliate, the Rochester Americans, with whom he spent the majority of his first three pro seasons. John Loewen (; born December 21, 1949) is a businessman and politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1999 to 2005 as a member of the Progressive Conservative Party, and campaigned for the House of Commons of Canada in 2006 and 2008 as a Liberal.
