Lockhart Football Club
The Lockhart Football and Netball Club is situated in the Riverina, New South Wales area and currently plays in the Hume Football League and fields four football and five netball teams in this competition. History The Lockhart Football Club (Australian Rules Football) was formed in April 1898, after a meeting at the Lockhart Hotel. and they defeated Urana in their first official game in August 1898. In 1925, The Urangeline & DFA, had six teams in the competition and both Lockhart FC and Milbrulong FC were expelled from the competition on the eve of the finals series, for refusing to play their final at Urangeline. Urangeline FC were defeated by Osborne FC in the grand final played at Pleasant Hills and won Mrs Maloney's Cup. Hume Football League
The Hume Australian Football Netball League (HFNL), often shortened to Hume Football League, is an Australian rules football and netball competition containing twelve clubs based in the South West Slopes and southern Riverina regions of New South Wales, Australia. The league features four grades in the Australian rules football competition, with these being First-Grade, Reserve-Grade, Under 17s and Under 14s. In the netball competition, there are six grades, with these being A-Grade, B-Grade, C-Grade, C-Reserve Grade, Intermediates and Juniors. Currently, a home and away season consisting of 18 rounds is played. Milbrulong
Milbrulong is a locality in the central east part of the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. The locality is south west of the state capital, Sydney and south west of the regional centre Wagga Wagga in the Lockhart Shire local government area. The standard gauge Oaklands railway line passes through the locality. The Milbrulong State Forest is located nearby. At the 2006 census, Milbrulong had a population of 366. History The place name ''Milbrulong'' is derived from the local Wiradjuri word ''mulbirrang'' meaning " Rosella parrot". Milbrulong Post Office opened on 7 August 1899 and closed in 1976. Central Riverina Football League
The Central Riverina Football League was a minor Australian rules football competition which ran from 1949 until 1981 in the Riverina region of New South Wales. The league contained a number of historic clubs, many of which no longer exist. History There was a Central Riverina Football League that was formed in 1907 in Narrandra, that was made up from the Coolamon, Hay and Narrandra football clubs. The Central Riverina Football League (CRFL) was formed in 1949 at the annual general meeting of the Milbrulong & District Football League, when it was decided to change its name to the Central Riverina Football League. The Milbrulong Football Association was reformed in 1945, after a five-year break due to World War Two and was active up until 1948, when the name change took place in early 1949. The Farrer Football Netball League (FFNL) is an Australian rules football and netball competition containing nine clubs based in the Riverina region of New South Wales, Australia. Australian football, also called Australian rules football or Aussie rules, or more simply football or footy, is a contact sport played between two teams of 18 players on an oval field, often a modified cricket ground. Urangeline
Urangeline is a village community in the central part of the Riverina. It is situated by road, about 9 kilometres north from Urangeline East and 16 kilometres north east from Bidgeemia. Urangeline Post Office opened on 1 January 1882 and closed in 1934. Sports and Recreation Evidence of the Urangeline Football Club was first published in 1912 when they defeated Osborne Football Club in a game of Australian Rules Football. The club played a few friendly games per year against other local towns between 1912 and 1915, before going into recess during World War One. The Urangeline Football Association was formed in 1919 from the following clubs - Pleasant Hills, Osborne and Urangeline, with Osborne winning the first premiership in 1919.
