Loch Lomond Golf Club
Loch Lomond Golf Club is located in Luss, Argyll & Bute, Scotland on the shore of Loch Lomond. The course occupies land previously held by Clan Colquhoun and includes the clan's seat of Rossdhu House as its clubhouse. History While Clan Colquhoun had occupied the site of the present club since ancient times, the medieval Rossdhu Castle was constructed by Sir John Colquhoun in 1457 along with the private chapel of St. Mary of Rossdhu when his lands were consolidated into the free Barony of Luss. Opened in 1993, the course makes heavy use of natural hazards such as streams and marshland areas. Luss
Luss (''Lus'', 'herb' in Gaelic) is a village in Argyll and Bute, Scotland, on the west bank of Loch Lomond. The village is within the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park. History Historically in the County of Dunbarton, its original name is ''Clachan dhu'', or 'dark village'. Ben Lomond, the most southerly Munro, dominates the view north over the loch, and the Luss Hills rise to the west of the village. Saint Kessog brought Christianity to Luss at the early 6th century in the Early Middle Ages. A number of early medieval and medieval monuments survive in the present churchyard, including simple cross-slabs which may date to as early as the 7th century AD, and a hogback grave-cover of the 11th century. Sir James Colquhoun, 3rd Baronet, of Luss (28 September 1774 – 3 February 1836) was the Member of Parliament (MP) for Dunbartonshire (UK Parliament constituency), Dumbartonshire from 1799 to 1806. Colquhoun was a Scottish aristocratic major in 1799 when he married the writer Janet Colquhoun, Janet Sinclair. He did not support her religious zeal. He was the heir to an estate in Dunbartonshire. It has been proposed that Colquhoun and his wife were the basis for the characters of Rabina and George Colwan in Hogg's ''The Private Memoirs and Confessions of a Justified Sinner''. 2010 European Tour
The 2010 European Tour was the second edition of the Race to Dubai and the 39th season of golf tournaments since the European Tour officially began in 1972. The season consisted of 47 tournaments, beginning with two events in December 2009 and culminating with the Dubai World Championship the following November. The schedule included the four major championships, four World Golf Championships and the Ryder Cup. The Race to Dubai was won by Germany's Martin Kaymer. Kaymer and U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell from Northern Ireland shared the Golfer of the Year award. The 2001 European Tour was the 30th official season of golf tournaments known as the PGA European Tour. The season was made up of 46 tournaments counting towards the Order of Merit, which included the four major championships and three World Golf Championships, and several non-counting "Approved Special Events". The European Tour (currently known as the DP World Tour for sponsorship reasons), legally the PGA European Tour is the leading men's professional golf tour in Europe. The organisation also operates the European Senior Tour (for players aged fifty or older) and the developmental Challenge Tour; the second tier of men’s professional golf in Europe. Jay Morrish (c. 1936 – March 2, 2015) was an American golf course designer. He graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Landscape and Nursery Management. In 1964, he taught Horticulture at that university while pursuing graduate degrees. Morrish served a four-year apprenticeship with Robert Trent Jones, and subsequently two years with George Fazio.
