Longview High School (colloquially known as LHS) is a public high school located in the city of Longview, Texas, in Gregg County, Texas, Gregg County, United States and classified as a 5A school by the University Interscholastic League, UIL. It is a part of the Longview Independent School District located in eastern Gregg County, Texas, Gregg County. The school was founded in 1874 as the Longview Male and Female Institute, and the first permanent structure was established in 1885. Rodrick Shawn Byrdsong (born October 2, 1979) is a former American football defensive back who played one season with the Baltimore Ravens of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Mississippi State University and attended Longview High School in Longview, Texas. He was also a member of the New Orleans Saints. James Anthony Goolsby, known as Tony Goolsby (November 9, 1933 - September 4, 2020), was a businessman in Dallas, Texas, who, from 1993 to 2009, was a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives from District 102 in northeastern Dallas County. Donald Preston Fambrough (October 19, 1922 – September 3, 2011) was an American football player and coach. He served two stints as the head football coach at the University of Kansas, from 1971 to 1974 and 1979 to 1982, compiling a record of 36–49–5. Early life Fambrough was born on October 19, 1922 in Longview, Texas to Ivey and Willie Whittington Fambrough. He attended Longview High School.
