Lo Wu Correctional Institution
Lo Wu Correctional Institution () is a medium-security prison in Lo Wu, New Territories, Hong Kong which houses adult women prisoners and remands. It is the largest women's prison in Hong Kong. History The site of the prison was formerly a British Forces base called Lo Wu Camp, which was later used to accommodate Vietnamese refugees. To help alleviate prison overcrowding, the military base was converted into the minimum-security Lo Wu Correctional Institution, which upon completion in August 1997 had a capacity of 208. Overcrowding of the prison system remained a problem. Hence, the government developed plans to redevelop the Lo Wu Correctional Institution to provide a total of 1,400 penal places, an increase of nearly 1,200. Sheung Shui (, literally "Above-water") is an area in the New Territories, Hong Kong. Sheung Shui Town, a part of this area, is part of the Fanling–Sheung Shui New Town in the North District of Hong Kong. Fanling Town is to its southeast. History Shek Wu Hui () used to be the marketplace of the Sheung Shui area, before the development of Sheung Shui Town. Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre
Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre () is a prison in Lai Chi Kok, Kowloon, Hong Kong. It is operated by the Correctional Services Department and is one of the largest prisons in the territory. History The Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre was built to relieve overcrowding at the Victoria Remand Centre. Site formation work began in 1974. On 21 November 1977, the HK$32-million prison was handed over from the Public Works Department to the Prisons Department (renamed Correctional Services Department in 1982). It began operating in December 1977. In September 1997, Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre had a certified capacity of 960 but was overcrowded, housing a population of 1,293 at that time. Secretary for Security Ambrose Lee formally opened the Lai Chi Kok Correctional Institution, located adjacent to Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre, on 20 July 2006. Tiffany Yuen Ka-wai ( zh, link=no, t=袁嘉蔚; born 30 September 1993) is a Hong Kong activist and politician, who has been a member of the Southern District Council for Tin Wan (constituency), Tin Wan since 2020. She was the vice chairperson of Demosistō before resigning from the party in 2018. Regine Yau Wai-ching (; born 6 May 1991) is a Hong Kong former politician and former member of the localist group Youngspiration. She was elected to the Legislative Council of Hong Kong as a member for Kowloon West in the 2016 Legislative Council election, but has since been disqualified pursuant to a judgment delivered by the High Court on 15 November 2016. Cyd Ho Sau-lan () is a former member of the Legislative Council of Hong Kong (Legco) for the Hong Kong Island constituency. Agnes Chow Ting ( zh, t=周庭, born 3 December 1996) is a Hong Kong politician and social activist. She is a former member of the Standing Committee of Demosistō and former spokesperson of Scholarism. Her candidacy for the 2018 Hong Kong Island by-election, supported by the pro-democracy camp, was blocked by authorities, due to her party's advocacy of self-determination for Hong Kong. The Drainage Services Department (DSD) is a department of the Hong Kong Government responsible for drainage and sewerage. Since 2007 it has been subordinate to the Development Bureau. Responsibilities The department is responsible for stormwater drainage, sewage collection and treatment, and flood prevention. Donald Tsang
Sir Donald Tsang Yam-kuen (; born 7 October 1944) is a former Hong Kong civil servant who served as the second Chief Executive of Hong Kong from 2005 to 2012. Tsang joined the colonial civil service as an Executive Officer in 1967, occupying various positions in local administration, finance and trade before he was appointed Financial Secretary of Hong Kong in 1995, becoming the first ethnic Chinese to hold the position under British administration. He continued to serve in the Hong Kong SAR government after 1997 and gained his reputation internationally for his intervention in Hong Kong's stock market in defending the Hong Kong dollar's peg to the US dollar during the 1997 financial crisis. The Architectural Services Department is a department of the Government of Hong Kong responsible for the design and construction of many public facilities throughout the territory. It is subordinate to the Works Branch of the Development Bureau and the current director is Mr. Tse Cheong Wo, Edward. History The origins of the Architectural Services Department lie in the Architectural Office, one of the sub-departments of the former Public Works Department (PWD). The PWD was founded in 1891, but the structure of the department at that time is reportedly unclear. The Architectural Office existed by 1939, and following the disruption in operations during the Japanese occupation, the unit was kept busy in the postwar years by rebuilding work.
