Lloyd Pandi
Lloyd Kanda Pandi (born December 10, 1999) is a Canadian professional basketball player for Darüşşafaka of the Basketbol Süper Ligi (BSL) and the Basketball Champions League (BCL). He played university basketball for Carleton. University career In his debut for Carleton, Pandi had 18 points to help defeat Waterloo 110-54, leading all Carleton starters with 22 minutes played. In his debut season, Pandi started 17 games out of the season's 22 games, eventually becoming a national champion with the Ravens as well as being named the U Sports Rookie of the Year. At the close of the season, Pandi was the Ravens' scoring leader, having played 19 of the 22 regular season games, as well as Canada's leading university player in field goal percentage. Carleton Ravens Men's Basketball
The Carleton Ravens men's basketball team represents Carleton University in the Ontario University Athletics conference of U Sports men's basketball. The Ravens have captured 16 W. P. McGee Trophy national championship wins, more than any top division school in Canada or the United States, and are the reigning national champions (2022). U Sports Men's Basketball
U Sports men's basketball is the highest level of amateur play of basketball in Canada and operates under the auspices of U Sports, Canada's governing body for university sports. Forty-eight teams from Canadian universities are divided into four athletic conferences, drawing from the four regional associations of U Sports: Canada West Universities Athletic Association, Ontario University Athletics, Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec, and Atlantic University Sport. At the end of every season, eight teams compete for the W. P. McGee Trophy, awarded to the U Sports Men's Soccer Championship team. 2021 CEBL Season
The 2021 CEBL season was the third season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). It began on June 24, 2021. The CEBL planned to have fans at the home arenas, depending on the situation of the pandemic but would have had regional bubbles if needed. On June 10, 2021, the league announced that teams would be playing at their home arenas, but fans are still dependant on the provincial governments. On June 21, 2021, the league announced the playoffs would start on August 14, where four teams will play for two spots in the Championship Weekend. The final two spots will be filled in by the top team in the league and by the host team, Edmonton Stingers. The Championship Weekend will be held from August 18 to 22. Starting July 21, all seven teams were allowed to bring some amount of fans (either full capacity or limited) to the home games. 2020 CEBL Season
The 2020 CEBL season was the second season of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL). It was played from July 25 to August 9 at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines, Ontario. The season was scheduled to take place from May 7 to August 6, with the championship being played in Edmonton from August 14 to 16. On April 15, the season was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. A shortened 2020 season tournament, branded as the CEBL Summer Series, was held at the Meridian Centre in St. Catharines. A single round robin was played to eliminate one team, followed by a six-team single-elimination playoff. All games were played behind closed doors with no spectators admitted. The Edmonton Stingers defeated the Fraser Valley Bandits in the final to win their first CEBL title. The 2022 FIBA AmeriCup was the 19th edition of the FIBA AmeriCup, the main tournament for senior men's basketball national teams of the FIBA Americas. The tournament was played in Recife, Brazil, as Brasília was dropped as a second host city months before the tournament. It was originally scheduled to take place in 2021, but it was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic to 2 to 11 September 2022. Canada Men's National Basketball Team
The Canadian men's national basketball team represents Canada in international basketball competitions since 1923. They are overseen by Canada Basketball, the governing body of basketball in Canada. The team's head coach is Nick Nurse and its general manager is Rowan Barrett. In nine Olympic appearances, Canada has won one medal in basketball – a silver at the 1936 Games in Berlin.
