Lloyd E. Lewis Jr. was a former member of the Ohio House of Representatives. A native of Dayton, Lewis served as a former assistant city manager for Dayton and as a member of the city plan board. Rhine McLin
Rhine Lana McLin (born October 1948) is an American Democratic politician from Ohio who served as the 54th mayor of Dayton, Ohio from 2002 to 2010. McLin previously served as a member of both chambers of the Ohio General Assembly. Education McLin received her Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology and secondary education from Parsons College and her Master of Education in guidance counseling from Xavier University. She also holds an associate's degree in mortuary science granted by the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science. Career In 1988, when McLin's father, C. J. McLin, died, Rhine was appointed to serve the remainder of his term in the Ohio House of Representatives. She was then elected to the seat in 1990, and re-elected in 1992. Dixie Allen
Dixie Jean Woods Allen (née Woods; January 27, 1935 – March 31, 2019) was a politician from Dayton, Ohio, who served in the Ohio House of Representatives and on the Montgomery County Commission. After the resignation of Rep. Lloyd Lewis Jr. in 1998, Allen was chosen as a political newcomer to replace him. She went on to win a full term in 1998, and was reelected in 2000. In 2001, she opted for an appointment to the Ohio Senate, however did not obtain it. Instead she, won reelection for a third full House term in 2002, and again in 2004. In 2006, Republicans convinced Allen that if she would switch political parties, they would appoint her as a county commissioner. She did so, and was appointed on July 25, 2006, after resignation from the House. Xenia, Ohio
Xenia ( ) is a city in southwestern Ohio and the county seat of Greene County, Ohio, United States. Kettering, Ohio
Kettering is a city in Montgomery county in the U.S. state of Ohio. Almost entirely in Montgomery County, it is an inner suburb of Dayton, Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the city had a population of 57,862 (down slightly from 58,453 in 2010), making it the largest suburb in Dayton metropolitan area. History The area where the city of Kettering now lies was settled from the late 1700s to the mid-1800s, largely as farmland. The population in the area started to grow, prompting the creation of (now defunct) Van Buren Township in 1841. In November 1952, township voters approved incorporating as the Village of Kettering. Edythe M. "Delilah" Lewis (February 26, 1924 – June 5, 2014) was the first black, female disc jockey in Dayton, Ohio, United States, in the 1950s. Later, she earned her bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Cincinnati and then two master's degrees. Career Lewis was the first black woman to host a radio show in Dayton, Ohio, broadcasting on WING-AM as Delilah in the 1950s. She was inducted into the Dayton Area Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2003. The ''Dayton Daily News'' called her a pioneer and said she was a role model during a period when there were very few black people in the broadcasting industry. The Ohio House of Representatives is the lower house of the Ohio General Assembly, the state legislature of the U.S. state of Ohio; the other house of the bicameral legislature being the Ohio Senate. The House of Representatives first met in Chillicothe on March 3, 1803, under the later superseded state constitution of that year. In 1816, the capital was moved to Columbus, where it is located today. Dayton () is the sixth-largest city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Montgomery County. A small part of the city extends into Greene County. Rike's
The Rike-Kumler Company (commonly known as Rike's) was an American department store in Dayton, Ohio. In 1959, Rike's became part of the Federated Department Stores conglomerate. In 1982, Federated merged Rike's with its Cincinnati unit, Shillito's, in order to form Shillito–Rike's. In 1986, Federated merged Shillito–Rike's into the Columbus-based Lazarus chain, which, in 2005 was consolidated with most other Federated chains under the Macy's brand. Rike's former main store in downtown Dayton was imploded in 1999 and is now the site of the Benjamin and Marian Schuster Performing Arts Center. Rike's was well known for its annual tradition of animated Christmas window displays.
