Llanwddyn (electoral Ward)
Llanwddyn () was the name of an electoral wards in the far north of Powys, Wales. It covered the community of Llanwddyn (which gives it its name) as well as the neighbouring communities of Llangynog and Pen-y-Bont-Fawr. The ward elected a county councillor to Powys County Council. According to the 2011 census the population of the ward was 1,036. Following a boundary review, Llanwddyn was merged to become part of the larger ward of Banwy, Llanfihangel and Llanwddyn, effective from the 2022 local elections. County councillors Conservative Party candidate Simon Baynes represented the ward following the May 2008 council elections. He stood down after only one term in office. Independent councillor Darren Mayor was elected unopposed as ward councillor in May 2012 and became Powys County Council's cabinet member for property, buildings and housing. Powys (; ) is a county and preserved county in Wales. It is named after the Kingdom of Powys which was a Welsh successor state, petty kingdom and principality that emerged during the Middle Ages following the end of Roman rule in Britain. 2017 Powys County Council Election
The fifth election to the Powys County Council since local government reorganization in Wales in 1995 was held on 4 May 2017, along with other local government elections. It was preceded by the 2012 election and will be followed by the 2022 election. Llanfyllin High School
Llanfyllin High School (''Ysgol Uwchradd Llanfyllin'') is a bilingual secondary school situated in the mid-Wales town of Llanfyllin. It currently has around 1000 pupils drawn from the town and the surrounding area. About a quarter of the pupils live across the English border in Shropshire. As a bilingual school, Llanfyllin High School has a Welsh language stream in which most subjects are taught in Welsh, and an English language stream in which most subjects are taught in English. Some courses are taught bilingually. About 19% of pupils have Welsh as their first language. A group of pupils in years 6 to 9 participate in a project named ''Trochi'' (Immersion) to increase their fluency in Welsh and allow them to transfer to the Welsh language stream. The Welsh Conservatives ( cy, Ceidwadwyr Cymreig) is the branch of the United Kingdom Conservative Party that operates in Wales. 2022 Welsh Local Elections
The 2022 Welsh local elections are due to be held on 5 May 2022 to elect members of all twenty-two local authorities in Wales. They are being held alongside other local elections in the United Kingdom. The last elections were held in 2017. Background In the last local elections in 2017, 1,271 seats were elected. The Labour Party won 468 seats, independent candidates won 309 seats, Plaid Cymru won 208 seats, the Conservative Party won 184 seats and the Liberal Democrats won 63 seats. Other parties including the Green Party won 22 seats.
