Ljung Castle
Ljung Castle is a castle in Sweden. The present building was erected in 1774. It was commissioned by Axel von Fersen the Elder and designed by Jean Eric Rehn. The building is well preserved and regarded a good example of the style of the Gustavian era. The castle belongs to the Listed buildings in Sweden since 1989. History Ljung is noted as a property of no consequence in the early 17th-century. It was bought by baron H. Hamilton in 1642. In 1665, it was bought by the famous writer Agneta Horn (1629–1672). Linköping Municipality (''Linköpings kommun'') is a municipality in Östergötland County in southern Sweden. With more than 165,000 inhabitants, it is the fifth largest municipality in Sweden. Axel Von Fersen The Elder
250px, Fredrik Axel von Fersen Count Fredrik Axel von Fersen (5 April 171924 April 1794) was a Swedish statesman and soldier. He served as Lord Marshal of the Riksdag of the Estates, and although he worked closely with King Gustav III before and through the Revolution of 1772, he later opposed the king. Biography A son of Lieutenant-General Hans Reinhold von Fersen, he entered the Swedish Life Guards in 1740, and from 1743 to 1748 was in the French service in the Royal-Suedois, where he rose to the rank of brigadier. In the Seven Years' War Fersen distinguished himself during the operations round Usedom and Wollin in 1759, when he inflicted serious loss on the Prussians. But it is as a politician that he is best known. Jean Eric Rehn
Jean Eric Rehn (18 May 1717, Stockholm - 19 May 1793, Stockholm) was a Swedish architect, engraver and designer. Biography His father, Eric, was a government ombudsman for the Sámi people. While still a boy, he became part of the , a forerunner to the engineering corps, where he served as a Sub-Lieutenant. In 1740, at the age of twenty-three, he went to Paris to study etching, with the help of a government grant. There, he worked in the studios of Jacques-Philippe Le Bas, creating hunting scenes. In 1745 the architect, Carl Hårleman, made contact with him on behalf of the Swedish government, offering him a position creating designs for the silk, wool and linen factories supported by the , and related facilities. The History of Sweden from 1772 through 1809 is better known as the Gustavian era of Kings Gustav III and Gustav IV, as well as the reign of King Charles XIII of Sweden. Agneta Horn
Agneta Horn (18 August 1629 – 18 March 1672) was a Swedish writer born to noble parents and a military father. She traveled a great deal throughout Europe in her lifetime as a result of living in a military family and later marrying another soldier. She is most known for writing her autobiography, ''Agneta Horns leverne'' (also spelled "lefverne"). Life Agneta Horn was the daughter of Gustav Horn, Count of Björneborg and Kristina Oxenstierna, and the granddaughter of Axel Oxenstierna. She was born on 18 August 1629, in Riga in what is now Latvia, because her father was a Swedish military officer stationed outside of the country at the time of her birth.
