Liza Balkan
Liza Balkan is a Canadian actress, dancer, director, teacher and writer. Career She received Toronto's Dora Mavor Moore Award for her performance in '' Still the Night'' ( Theatre Passe Muraille/ Tova Entertainment/Tapestry/National Tour). She is also known as the voice actress for Amy Mizuno from the third and fourth seasons of the English adaptation of ''Sailor Moon''. On the silver screen, she had a role in Asghar Massombagi's '' Khaled'' (2001) and appeared in Atom Egoyan's critically acclaimed drama ''Remember'' (2015), portraying the daughter-in-law of Christopher Plummer's protagonist in the latter. Tapestry New Opera Works
Tapestry Opera is a Canadian opera company located in Toronto, Ontario. According to its website, it is "the only Canadian company solely dedicated to the creation and performance of original Canadian opera". To date, the company has produced 18 full-length world premieres and 160 world premieres of opera shorts. It has been nominated for 61 Dora Mavor Moore Awards and won 20. It is Canada's largest producer of contemporary opera. The opera was founded in 1979 by Wayne Strongman, who was the company's Artistic Director until 2013, when he resigned after a period of internal strife. ''West Side Story'' is a musical conceived by Jerome Robbins with music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim, and a book by Arthur Laurents. ''Golda's Balcony'' is a play by William Gibson. It follows the trajectory of the life of Golda Meir from Russian immigrant to American schoolteacher to a leader of international politics as the fourth Prime Minister of Israel. Much of its focus is on the period surrounding the 1973 Yom Kippur War, when Israel was attacked by Egypt and Syria. Gibson's drama suggests Meir threatened Richard Nixon and Henry Kissinger with the launch of nuclear weapons against her enemies, conceivably starting World War III, unless the U.S. came to her country's aid. The Great Canadian Theatre Company (GCTC) is a professional theatre company based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It was established in 1975 by a group of professors and graduate students at Carleton University. The Belfry Theatre is a theatre and associated theatre company in the Fernwood neighbourhood of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The Toronto Fringe Festival is an annual theatre festival, featuring un-juried plays by unknown or well-known artists, taking place in the theatres of Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
