Liz Gunn
Elizabeth Jane Cooney, commonly known as Liz Gunn (born ), is an anti-vaccination activist and a former television presenter from New Zealand. Broadcasting career Gunn was a litigation lawyer before beginning her TV career on the TVNZ show '' Sunday'' in 1992. From 1997 she was the first Breakfast newsreader, becoming one of the show's co-hosts (alongside Mike Hosking) in 2001. She unexpectedly quit that role on-air during the year's last episode. By then she had also begun broadcasting on Radio New Zealand. Other television roles included reporting for Holmes and newsreading on TV One. Gunn moved to Australia after her TV presenting days ended in 2002, returning to New Zealand a decade later. She rejoined RNZ until 2016. Presented by Miriama Kamo with a team of New Zealand reporters, the programme began when TV ONE did not renew its rights to '' 60 Minutes'' which had aired previously in this time slot. Michael Noel James Hosking IV is a New Zealand television and radio broadcaster who has worked for Radio New Zealand and TVNZ and from 2008 has been the weekday breakfast host on Newstalk ZB with "The Mike Hosking Breakfast". He is a supporter of the centre-right National party and is often openly critical of the Labour-led government. He has lived and worked as a broadcaster in Wellington, Christchurch and currently resides in Auckland. The Broadcasting Standards Authority (BSA) has received several complaints against Hosking. ''Holmes'' is a 30-minute news and current affairs show presented by Paul Holmes on Television One in New Zealand that aired between 1989 and 2004. The show moved to Prime in 2005 after failed contract negotiations between Paul Holmes and TVNZ, however the show's run on Prime was short-lived due to low ratings. Show history The Holmes show first screened on Television One at 6:30pm following the 6pm news. The 6pm news slot was actually changed to make way for the Holmes show, previously the 6pm news show was 1 hour long with a 20-minute break between the sports news and weather to screen a regional news show for each of the four main centres. 2022 Wellington Protest
The 2022 Wellington protest was an anti-vaccine, anti-mandate occupation of the grounds of Parliament House and Molesworth Street in Central Wellington during the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. It began in February 2022 and lasted just over three weeks. The protestors were a mixed group, but the majority were opposed to the COVID-19 mask and vaccine mandates in New Zealand, claiming they were fighting for the freedom of all New Zealanders.
