"Living in Another World" is a song by English band Talk Talk. It was recorded for the band's 1986 album ''The Colour of Spring'' and was the second single from the album, making the top 40 in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Flanders. The track was one of those selected to promote contentious 1991 remix album ''History Revisited''. The artwork for the single was by James Marsh (artist), James Marsh. Hammond organ is played by guest musician Steve Winwood. Composition The song has been noted for its cyclical musical structure. Kenny Anderson, aka King Creosote: "I never tire of [the song], and yet I don't quite understand how they managed to make it sound like a musical version of that famous M. C. Modal Jazz
Modal jazz is jazz that makes use of musical modes, often modulating among them to accompany the chords instead of relying on one tonal center used across the piece. Although precedents exist, modal jazz was crystallized as a theory by composer George Russell in his 1953 book ''Lydian Chromatic Concept of Tonal Organization''. Darkstar are a British electronic music duo. Since 2007, they have released music on Hyperdub, Warp and 2010 Records. History Early singles James Young & Aiden Whalley began making music together in London in 2007(?), releasing their first compositions "Dead 2 Me" & "Break" under the name Darkstar on their own label - 2010 Records. This release was followed later the same year by "Lilyliver/Out of Touch" and "Memories (Remix)/Sayter" a split single with London producer Zomby, issued on the MG77 label. London musician and Hyperdub label head Kode9 released "Need You/Squeeze My Lime" in 2008. The "Round Ours" EP was also released in 2008 on Clandestine Cultivations. Lights Poxleitner-Bokan (born Valerie Anne Poxleitner; April 11, 1987), known mononymously as Lights (previously stylized as LIGHTS), is a Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter. The wind machine (also called an aeoliphone or aelophon) is a friction idiophone used to produce the sound of wind for orchestral compositions and musical theater productions. Construction The wind machine is constructed of a large cylinder made up of several wooden slats which measures approximately in diameter. The cylinder body of the instrument rests upon a stand and is typically covered with silk, canvas, or other material which is in a fixed position. A crank handle, used by the player to rotate the cylinder and create the sound, is attached to the cylinder. Another method of construction implements an electric fan, which is fitted with lengths of cane, rather than blades. Timothy Michael Pope (born 12 February 1956) is a film director most known for his music videos, for having directed feature films, and for a brief pop career. Early life and career Pope grew up in the north London suburb of Enfield. Both his parents were bankers, and he has a sister, Amanda. He always knew that he wanted to make films, boasting in an interview once, "Even my dreams came with dirt on them, like my Standard-8 movies". He attended St Andrew's primary school, Cecil Road, Enfield, and then went to St Michael's boarding school in Otford, Kent, returning to north London to attend Latymer Grammar School, Haselbury Road.
