The Sounds
The Sounds are a Swedish indie rock band. Formed in Helsingborg in 1998, the group's musical style has been compared to new wave acts such as Blondie, The Cars, the Epoxies and Missing Persons. Their debut album, '' Living in America'', was released in 2002, with the follow-up '' Dying to Say This to You'' in 2006. Their third album, '' Crossing the Rubicon'', was released in 2009, and their fourth, '' Something to Die For'', was released in 2011. Their fifth album, ''Weekend'', was released in 2013. In 2017, the band released a four-track EP, ''The Tales That We Tell''. History Formation The Sounds were formed in 1998 by classmates Félix Rodríguez, Maja Ivarsson, Johan Bengtsson and Fredrik Blond in Helsingborg, Sweden. The group met Jesper Anderberg, the youngest member, by chance at the Hultsfred Festival, and he was enlisted to play keyboards and guitar. ''Living in America'' is the debut album in English by Swedish new wave band The Sounds, produced in 2002 under the Warner Sweden record label. The International Federation of the Phonographic Industry awarded the album a platinum certification in 2003, denoting sales in excess of 40,000 copies. The album received mixed to positive reviews, AllMusic writer Andy Kellman gave it 3/5 stars and wrote "But the thing you cannot take away from the members of this Swedish group is that they know how to write and play songs". New Wave Music
New wave is a loosely defined music genre that encompasses pop-oriented styles from the late 1970s and the 1980s. ''Welcome to Sweden'' is an American-Swedish sitcom television series created by comedian Greg Poehler, about an American accountant who quits his job to move with his girlfriend to her native country of Sweden. It premiered on TV4 on March 21, 2014. The series is based on Poehler's own experiences as a former intellectual property lawyer from the United States who moved with his girlfriend to her native country of Sweden in 2006. An international production featuring both Swedish and American talent, themes, and dialogue, it is the first English-language production by TV4. The series also aired in the United States on NBC. On July 28, 2015, four episodes into season two, NBC cancelled the series due to what Poehler described as "craptastically" low ratings, with NBC further stating that production was "officially done".
