Liversedge is a town and former parish of Birstall, in the metropolitan borough of Kirklees, West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Liversedge lies between Cleckheaton and Heckmondwike. The Kirklees ward is now called Liversedge and Gomersal with a population at the 2011 Census of 19,420. Liversedge forms part of the Heavy Woollen District. Settlements Liversedge comprises several settlements that are all distinctive. Norristhorpe clings to one side of the Spen Valley, looking over the town of Heckmondwike. Roberttown is on the opposite side of the A62. Millbridge is the geographical centre of Liversedge and, with the neighbouring village of Flush, is the place the mills of the woollen industry stood. West Yorkshire
West Yorkshire is a metropolitan and ceremonial county in the Yorkshire and Humber Region of England. Archibald Liversidge
Archibald Liversidge FRS FRSE FRSNSW LLD (17 November 1847 – 26 September 1927) was an English-born chemist and a co-founder of the Australasian Association for the Advancement of Science. Early life Liversidge was born at Turnham Green, Chiswick, England, the son of John Liversidge of Bexley and his wife Caroline Sophia, ''née'' Jarratt. Liversidge was educated at a private school and by private tutors in science, and in 1866 went to the Royal College of Chemistry and Royal School of Mines. In 1867 Liversidge won a Royal exhibition and medals in chemistry, mineralogy and metallurgy. Liversidge became an associate of the School of Mines and in 1870 was awarded an open scholarship in science at Christ's College, Cambridge. Robert Liversidge
Robert William Liversidge (11 June 1904 – 30 September 1994), formerly Jacob (Jack) Perlsweig, was a British businessman whose activities sometimes attracted the attention of the police and intelligence services. He was also a reputed spy and the subject of a ''cause célèbre'' as an internee in Britain during the Second World War. Early life Liversidge's parents, Asher Perlsweig, a rabbi, and Sarah, were Jewish immigrants to Britain from Russia. He was born in Harringay, London, one of five brothers and three sisters. He left school at the age of 14 and drifted before becoming involved in financial services. In July 1928 two of his associates, David and Dore Baumgart, were tried at the Old Bailey for conspiracy to defraud over share dealings in which Liversidge was also alleged to have been involved. Joan Liversidge
Joan Eileen Annie Liversidge FSA (May 1914 - 16 January 1984) was an English archaeologist who specialised in Roman Britain. Biography Liversidge was an Honorary Keeper of the University Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Cambridge, a research fellow at Newnham College, Cambridge, and a faculty lecturer at Cambridge. She was a Founding Fellow of Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge. Her work was focussed on artefactual and artistic evidence. Liversidge took a social history approach to Roman Britain which was undervalued in subsequent decades. As with the undervaluing of her social history approach, her findings that several Roman villas in Britain (Box, Atworth, East Grinstead, Stroud, and Titsey) were of more than one storey in height were overshadowed by assertions of R.G.Collingwood and Ian Richmond that such structures had only one story, but re-evaluations in 1982 found that such buildings could be of greater height.
