Silversun Pickups is an American alternative rock band from Los Angeles that was formed in 2000. The band is composed of Brian Aubert, Nikki Monninger, Christopher Guanlao, and Joe Lester. The band released their debut EP, '' Pikul'', in July 2005, and their debut album, '' Carnavas'', on July 26, 2006. Their second album, '' Swoon'', was released on April 14, 2009. ''Pikul'' is the debut EP from the Silversun Pickups, released on Dangerbird Records in 2005. The album includes 16 untitled tracks after "...All the Go Inbetweens", all of which are about 44 seconds long each, concealing a hidden track at the end ("Sci-Fi Lullaby"). The album name comes from the nickname of a friend of the band who died, and to whom the album is dedicated. The name is commonly pronounced "Pickle", but the correct pronunciation is "pie-kull". The EP has one music video: "Kissing Families". In 2009 it was released on vinyl. "All The Go In Betweens" was recorded at "The Ship" in 2002. "The Fuzz" was recorded at "The Ship" in 2003. "Kissing Families" and "Booksmart Devil" were produced at Clearlake Studio in 2004. "Comeback Kid" and "Creation Lake" were produced at Sunset Sound in 2005. Album was mastered at Capitol Mastering. ''Widow's Weeds'' is the fifth studio album by American rock band Silversun Pickups. The album was released on June 7, 2019 through the band's own imprint, New Machine Recordings. Background and recording On April 11, the album was announced to coincide with the release of the album's lead single, "It Doesn't Matter Why." It was also announced that Butch Vig would be producing the album, marking their first collaboration. In choosing Vig as the producer, bassist Nikki Moninger said "he really listens to each band member, and he puts a great value on each individual and what they can add to the music." She also noted that making the album "was very collaborative with him. He’s such an easygoing person, and he put everybody at ease." ''Better Nature'' is the fourth studio album by Los Angeles alternative rock band Silversun Pickups. The album was produced by Jacknife Lee, and was released on September 25, 2015. It is the first of the band's albums to be released on their own label, New Machine Records; as well as their first to be supported by a Pledgemusic campaign. The album was announced on July 15, 2015. The lead single for the album, "Nightlight," was released to radio on August 6, 2015. It was accompanied by a music video, directed by Mark Pellington and starring ''Boardwalk Empire'' actor Meg Steedle. ''Swoon'' is the second full-length studio album by Los Angeles alternative rock band Silversun Pickups, released through Dangerbird Records on 14 April 2009. The name of the album comes from a line in the outro of the first track "There's No Secrets This Year." Background information After completing their ''Carnavas/Pikul'' tour in Christmas 2007, the band took a break until February of the next year. They began recording in their own studio named The Dark. The album was produced by Dave Cooley, who had worked with the band on their first album, ''Carnavas''. Recording was completed between July 2008 and February 2009. During the recording process the band laid down as many as 17 songs which were eventually cut down to 10 for the album.
