''Live Design'' is a monthly digital trade magazine, owned by Questex, that covers the latest projects and gear in live entertainment, including theatre, film, concerts, opera, ballet, architainment, and more. Columbia College Chicago's Theatre Department cites it for providing "comprehensive coverage for professionals in the fields of lighting, sound, staging, and projection." Architainment is a portmanteau of the two words Architecture and Entertainment. Architainment is generally associated with the word lighting or LED, and describes a process in which an inanimate material object as distinct from a living sentient being is apposed an entertaining element via light, media, kinetic or other medium; thus giving it a dual purpose. Recent technologies and art field such as colour changing LED lighting or motion detection or kinetic art have increased the visibility and versatility potential and brought this new discipline into life.
